We arrived here in the heat of the day (what do they say about mad dogs and Englishmen!). The gardens also had their festival running which meant there were limited facilities there.
However, the gardens are very picturesque with views across the coastline providing a dramatic setting for the beautiful gardens. It's planted out really nicely with areas of shade which are welcome on a hot day. Castle is a really nice spot in the middle of the gardens although it was closed up because of the festival.
Staff were really helpful and friendly from the guy on the gate, to the taxi driver who shuttles you from the car park to the garden (2 minutes) and to the lady on the ticket desk.
Pretty easy walking although be aware it is built on the cliffs so there is quite a bit of up and down.
I'd recommend going when the festival isn't on as then you can stop somewhere for a drink and get a better feel...
Read moreOne of the most beautiful Jardins (Gardens), with such a varied array of plant species from across the globe.
We happened to come on a day that must have been quiet because the place was pretty much empty, bar maybe a couple of others who we saw maybe once or twice en route around the gardens. This meant it was incredibly peaceful - like we had the place to ourselves.
We easily spent hours here, admiring the scenery, the beautiful views of the coastline and just taking our time meandering.
The gardens were clean and well cared for Access was easy, and directions clear
We would without doubt recommend this to anyone visiting the area to enjoy as a day out, we most definitely shall be returning when back.
We also are aware that Cap Roig hosts concerts and events at its venue which is exceptionally intriguing, so perchance check out what’s on before...
Read moreThis is so much more than a beautiful botanic garden, it's a story of the lives, love and legacy of two people. We arrived early and being able to explore the garden virtually alone was truly a magical experience. I could feel the presence of Dorothy as I walked down the steps from house and into the garden with the beautiful views. Lot's lovely places to sit and soak up the atmosphere. Free car park, but if you have a motorhome, don't try freeloading, you have to visit the garden. 10€ for adults or 5€ if you are over 65. What I really didn't like and I tried my best to ignore, we're the awful, out of place "sculptures". Why are they even there? Please get rid of the hideous, tacky bowl of fruit and put it back where it deserves to be in a holiday camp amusement arcade. Having said that, if you can turn a blind eye, you will...
