A very well curated museum. The text is only Catalan and Spanish, but they have binders with everything translated into your language of choice. This was a novel idea and very easy to follow. The museum is a lovely mix of modern and rustic. The illustrations are great and the interpretation gives you an idea of life in ancient Mallorca. There’s a tour available if you’d prefer not to read. The archaeological site is included with your ticket. It’s quite impressive, especially if you have a soft spot for archaeology. The only thing I have an issue with is while we were parked at the museum, someone tried to break into our rental car (unsuccessfully) with something through the window, damaging the car. First, get the super duper rental insurance on Mallorca, you will need it. Second, rental cars are a huge target and although I didn’t expect this in a village like Montuïri, the museum is at the edge of town by a roundabout with roads coming from elsewhere and there isn’t much else on the road by the museum except for two small schools. Be aware and take your...

Tiny museum built inside an ancient mill on the outskirts of Montuïri (an authentic not-touristic little town worth a visit, there was a little food market on Monday morning).

I recommend a visit to the museum to get to know more about the mysterious Taialotic culture and the location of all the Taialotic sites on Mallorca (the wonderful Talaiotic site of Ses Fornes is 5 minutes driving away).

There was a very instructive little corner with ancient-like objects for kids to play, e.g. grains and stones to grind grain, bones and various tools.

Great and magical experience off the...

I showed up at 11.30am (museum openeed at 10am). The main doors were open, but unfortunately the visitor door was locked. It was clear that it had been bolted from the inside so there was someone there. I decided to go to the Son Fornes site and come back to the museum later, thinking the staff were on a break. I went back approx 2 hours later and the door was still locked. I was really disappointed because it felt like I missed out on the...

Muchas gracias.
