Visiting Laxe das Rodas is a powerful experience. These ancient rock carvings, spirals and circles etched into stone thousands of years ago, are more than just archaeology – they are windows into another way of seeing the world. The site is often described as a “solar calendar,” aligned with the sun during solstices and equinoxes. But beyond the scientific explanation, it carries a deep spiritual and symbolic meaning. You can feel that this place was sacred, a meeting point between the people, the land, and the cosmos. And yet, we must remember: what we are told as “history” is not the whole story. It is, after all, HIS-STORY – the version written by those in power. Places like Laxe das Rodas remind us that there are other stories, older voices, and forgotten truths carved in stone, waiting to be listened to. Highly recommended for anyone who seeks not only history, but also mystery.

A trick I learned from tour guides highlighting dusty mosaics in the hot sun in Volubilis, Morocco... ⚠️ Pour your clean bottled water over the petroglifos to highlight them. Do not stand on them. Enjoy them with care and leave them for future generations. You can get here on taxi and a walk up. Small collection here which can be done in half-hour easily. More info on these early Galician petroglifos can be found in a well curated room in Museo de Pontevedra, if you’re heading that way... 👉 Attached some pics for your perusal
