Visited this vineyard for a family tour today. Booked online and they emailed us with our timeslot. We asked that it was in English as my husband isn't fluent in Spanish. Our family had a great time - our kids are 8 and 10 and obviously don't drink wine, but we obviously do 😉 so hearing that they had a tour specifically catering to families with smaller children, we were excited to finally get to do something for grown ups but that the kids could enjoy too. We were not disappointed. It was a private tour and our guide took us around the vineyards and wine making facilities and did an excellent job in answering our questions but also tailoring questions to interest the kids. It was fun, informative and educational, not only about wine making, but also about geography, history, physics and chemistry - which ticked every box for the kids as well as being fun too - with lots of laughs as the guide tried to answer questions that only kids would pose 🤣. During the wine tasting for mum and dad, the guide set the kids up with a project to write their deepest wishes on a piece of paper which they also had to colour in. While we relaxed, they were kept busy and came away with a message in a bottle that they got to cork and put in a lovely wooden box they got to design as well - with the instructions that they were to reopen it when they were 18 to remind themselves of their dreams 😊 This was a lovely experience, perfect to book as back up if the weather doesn't go your way in Galicia and only about 15 minutes from Santa Trega celtic village, which made this the perfect day out for everyone....
Read moreWe really enjoyed this visit. The wine is classed in the top 1% of wines in the world and we love Albarrino so we were really looking forward to this visit. We were not disappointed. We went on a Monday in December so we were the only people on the tour. It’s a modern winery so do not except old warehouses like in Jerez or Oporto. But they explain the process very well. I am involved in modern agriculture so I loved seeing the production lines! I think they could still mechanise a few more processes and still keep the QC standards up 🤭 😀. The wine tasting afterwards was really informative - we paid a bit more and tasted a few more wines too. The shop is well priced and a bit cheaper than in the shops. While we were there 2 local ladies came in and purchased about 60 bottles for Christmas 😃. Try the black label Terras Gauda if you can - really great. If you are nearby go and visit. You need to book ahead for the tour.
The wine here is quite expensive - double the cost of what you will find in other bodegas - but Terras Gauda is also perhaps the most famous...
