Saint Catherine Lookout — Attraction in Peñarrubia

What a beautiful view. Was recommended this lookout by my Airbnb host in the area and so happy I followed the advice to go here. You can drive all the way up (no need to park at the bottom, the walk up is not that exciting), and then just a few meters from where you leave your car (place for a few cars, so may get busy in summer), it’s up a few steps to the lookout spots. This mirador is spectacular. We accidentally came across it online. We have visited the area for many years and we're not aware of this view point. You will probably have to go out of your way to visit, it's worth it. Views through the Gorge to Potes in one direction and La Hermida in the other. For us the distant sight of our favourite village, Tresviso, was particularly special. ES-PEC-TA-CU-LAR !! Un mirador que no lo teníamos en la ruta, pero que nuestros anfitriones de la posada "Fuente de las Anjanas", en Serdio, nos lo recomendaron ya que nuestra próxima parada era Potes y nos avisaron que la carretera del desfiladero de La Hermida estaba en obras y nos dijeron que era otra ruta muy recomendable y así fue. La carretera típica de montaña sin apenas tráfico, con muchas curvas, sube y baja, con vistas de los Picos de Europa y montañas cercanas. Cuando sales de la carretera y coges el desvío al mirador hay un parking gratuito con chiringuito incluido. De ahí se accede a pie hasta el repetidor ( Antena), hay una caminata por una pista y con bastante pendiente. Como fuimos a primera hora de la mañana (10h) nos recomendó subir hasta arriba en coche ya que en el repetidor solo hay sitio para unos 4 vehículos y no hay apenas sitio para dar la vuelta, la pista es estrecha y si te cruzas con otro vehículo.. ojo! Por lo que si ya hay algún vehículo en el parking abstenerse de subir en coche. Una vez arriba las vistas son espectaculares, hacia abajo se ve a lo lejos la carretera estrecha y sinuosa entre las montañas.
