Área Recreativa Quejigales — Attraction in Ronda

Remote with BBQ area, toilets and parking. I used for a base from which to go walking in the mountains. Quiet during December but can envisage the area being very busy during summer months. Leaving the main highway it's a long winding road consisting of part track and part tarmac with some exposed and unprotected parts as you get near the recreation area. Great to have parking facilities at the trailhead of a major mountain of the area - Torrecilla. Even covered BBQ facilities. I visited on a wet cloudy day in March so did not see it at it's best, but I am sure it is a great base for a family picnic and exploring the nearby areas. My one warning is the 8km access from the A-397 is not tarmacadam for most of the way do slow driving and avoiding potholes is necessary, but to be expected when visiting such a remote and...

As others have said, the way to if from the main road is mainly a gravel track with lots of pot holes so take it slow to spot them ! I did the circular 9.8 mile route from the carpark going clockwise. (5.4 miles to the top in just under 2hrs).
