If you're looking for an exceptional vineyard experience in Andalusia, then Ramos-Paul in Ronda is a must-visit. Pilar, the host, did an outstanding job showing my wife and I around and explaining the winemaking process. The story of Ramos-Paul is fascinating, as Pilar and her husband Nané had no prior experience in wine production before starting the vineyard in 2000.
The €30 wine tasting and tour is an excellent value for money and highly recommended. If you're looking for a more comprehensive experience, the package that includes a full meal is also worth considering. During our visit, we had the opportunity to taste Ramos-Paul's 2005 and 2006 wines, as well as their two new single-grape (Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon as I recall) wines. Pilar's knowledge of the wines is impressive, and her passion for the vineyard is evident in every aspect of the tour.
One of the standout wines is the Ramos-Paul 2006, which is both underrated and underpriced. If it were a French wine or from a more famous region such as Rioja, it would undoubtedly cost much more. It's challenging to find outside of Andalusia (Corte Ingles in Marbella and some bodegas stock it), so take advantage of the opportunity to buy while visiting the vineyard. I purchased a case of the 2006 and some of the single-grape Tempranillo, and I'm delighted with my choices.
Overall, we had an incredible experience at Ramos-Paul, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic vineyard experience. Pilar's warmth, knowledge, and hospitality make this a top-notch destination for wine lovers. Don't miss out on this hidden gem in the historic and picturesque town of...
Read moreAn absolutely lovely vineyard outside of Ronda. We were fortunate to visit on a less busy day and the owner have us a private tour of the grounds and an explanation of how their wines are made, the climate in the area, and how their distribution network works. She was also kind enough to give us a wine tasting in her own kitchen and got to try several different types of wine from their vineyard, including collaborations they were working on with other vintners. We were sad to have been limited in our bottle haul that we ended up purchasing as we know we can only bring so many bottles back with us in checked luggage.
We look forward to being able to visit again in the near future. A part of me wants to tell everyone about Bodegas Ramon-Paul but another wants to keep it secret so I can keep enjoying it without a crazy rush of people to...
Read moreWe stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon in September and were treated to an exceptional experience by Bodegas Ramos-Paul. Pilar was incredible and took us around the winery and vineyard. She was extremely knowledgeable and was an absolute joy to converse with. Her enthusiasm to share her and her husband’s passion for wine was a special experience that we will not forget. We tried four wines with some cheese, bread, and jámon, and it was hard to pick which ones we liked the best! We walked away shipping two cases back to the US and taking two with us to enjoy for the rest of our trip. Exceptional experience and certainly not to be missed!...
