I went to Andalusia, and to be more precise to Salobreña on the Costa Tropical for my Summer vacation. During that period I’m unfaithful to my first love whisky and drink what the locals call Cubata. The large local distillery, located next door, produces Palido rum and is owned by Ron Montero. Strangely, the locals also drink a lot of Barceló Añejo. Nevertheless, this year, when I wanted to order my 1st Cubata with the Palido, the waiter invited me to taste a rum from Salobreña itself called Mondero. As I am curious, I did not hesitate and it is very good. After discussion with our good friends on site, it turns out that this rum has been produced by her nephew since 2006.
