Cascada De Los Tilos — Attraction in San Andrés y Sauces

One of the most amazing places from la Palma. This stunning area that looks like jurassic Park is complemented with this waterfall which makes it more authentic and unique. Very recommended place to visit, specially in the early morning to avoid crowds of people.

First parking area is the trailhead for the longer hikes - you don't need to park here if you're just going to the waterfall.

Second parking is for busses, but there are spots for cars. Best if you're doing both the waterfall and the longer hikes.

Third parking is the visitors center. It is not deserted, as I have seen in other reviews. It has a helpful ranger, a small museum, and bathrooms with potable water. There is a trailhead for a steep climb here, we didn't do.

Between second and third parking is the trailhead for the waterfall and some picnic areas. The waterfall is a very short but lovely hike through a ravine and some caves. The trail ends at the waterfall and the connection up to the main loop is gated off for safety. Have dry clothes if you want to get close, you can basically get right underneath but will get soaked.

Only took the main loop to the first lookout, it is progressively steeper as you approach with numbered rest stops up to 10. Beautiful lookout at the top that barely fits 4. This part is about 2 hour round trip hiking at a moderate pace. Bring...

La Cascada de los Tilos:Se encuentra en el Parque Natural de las Nieves,del cual forma una parte ,el municipio San Andrés y Sauces, ubicado en la isla de la Palma,Islas Canarias, España. Este parque es una reserva de la biosfera declarada por la (UNESCO),famoso por sus densos bosques de laurisilva, un ecosistema único en el mundo que se caracteriza por sus árboles perennes y frondosos. La Cascada ahora es artificial aunque antes hera natural debido a los Nacientes de Marcos y Corderos que fluian por este barranco pero en los años 50  se desvió su curso para alimentar a la primera y unica hidroeléctrica de Canarias (hoy fuera de uso) despues el ayuntamiento de San Andrés y Sauces en este siglo XXI decidió recuperarla haciendo un depósito encima del Risco y asi empezó a funcionar otravez en 2005 . Los Tilos, que dan nombre a la cascada, son precisamente una especie de árbol abundante en la zona y que contribuye a crear un ambiente fresco alrededor de la cascada, La ruta hacia la Cascada de los Tilos es una experiencia en sí misma a medida que te adentras en el sendero, rodeado por una frondosa vegetación y el sonido del agua fluyendo, la sensación de paz y tranquilidad se hace presente. El sendero está bien señalizado y ofrece diversas áreas de descanso. Sin lugar a dudas, realizar la ruta por el Bosque de los Tilos es uno de los imprescindibles de La Palma ya que es una de las zonas con mayor biodiversidad de la isla. Como llegar a la cascada: Saliendo de Santa Cruz de la Palma subiendo hacia el norte por la LP-1 y a unos 4 kilómetros de San Andrés y Sauces, el municipio al que pertenece,desde la LP-1 tendrás que tomar el desvío a la carretera LP-105 y seguirla hasta llegar al parking público donde puedes dejar el coche (Bosque de los Tilos). Cuando llegues al bosque de los Tilos, hay que caminar hasta encontrar la ruta de la cascada y adentrarte por una senda junto a un pequeño canal con agua que se ha desviado de la cascada. hay que adentrarse por un túnel en la roca que se ha excavado para llegar a los pies de la cascada(cuando el agua no estaba desviada no se podía avanzar por el agua que bajaba),ya en este punto tendras a la vista la cascada y estaras disfrutando no tan solo de esta vista,sino de todo un bosque lleno de elechos y árboles tan antiguos como los propios...
