The castle and the church sit at the top of a rocky hill from which you can see a significant portion of the Penedès and the current town of Sant Martí Sarroca (originally surrounding the castle). Both buildings have a rich history that is explained in sufficient detail in the guided visits, which include a video available in multiple languages. I recommend calling ahead of time to arrange a visit in a language other than Catalan. The tour guide was very kind and allowed us and several other small groups to join the ongoing visit, and then would do another loop to show the first part we had missed.
