KOKI ZOO (Zoo and botanical) — Attraction in Santo Domingo-Caudilla

Even if the zoo is hard to find and reach and doesn't look like one until you're extremely close, it is a rather big and surprising one. The entrance costs only 5€ and you can buy a bag of food for the animals for 1€ more. That food can be given to any animal that's not carnivorous and, essentially, except for the felines and birds of prey, all of them are, and most of them will, indeed, enjoy and some even "ask" for it. The caretakers are quite friendly and, if you arrive early and you're the only ones there, you might even get one of them to be your "personal guide" (The guy is mostly bored and will enjoy giving you something like a tour, maybe, at the right times, even getting a snake out for anyone to touch or "wear"). In terms of size, it is medium-big and has a lot of rare and some extinct in nature animals, with more to come in the near future hopefully. As is almost a norm in zoos, they have a zone with goats where you can get inside and play with them and feed them, but beware, they will try to eat anything. Shirts, jackets, shoelaces... if it hangs they will try to eat it. If it doesn't they'll try to eat it as well, but will be easier to notice then, so if you step in there be careful and bring food for them. You'll probably get out dirty from licks and their paws as they try to climb you to...

Very nice for kids and price really ok.

When you first enter the place, you get the sensation that you just arrived in someone's back yard , visiting their pet animals, which is a bit weird. But as you go further , you realize it's actually a nice place, with very "child-friendly" animals in a space that is not too big and thus very much walkable for little children. Mice little area where children can join the goats.

Finishing touch on the installations is a bit missing, and that might seem somewhat amateuristic, eg the playground, but nothing too...

Hemos ido este Domingo al Zoo Koki con 3 niños y os cuento nuestra experiencia:

La entrada 12€ (2 adultos) por los niños no nos han cobrado. Las chicas del Zoo muy agradables en todo momento nos han ofrecido pasar a dar de comer a las cabritas enanas. Gran variedad de animales, sobretodo aves. Los animales protagonistas son las cabritas enanas ya que puedes pasar dentro a tocarlas y darles de comer, los dromedarios que son muy simpaticotes y los burritos. El resto de animales son aves (que a niños muy pequeños poca gracia les hace) y todo un pasillo de gatos 🐱 algo muy original y diferente. Tambien tienen un jaguar y una pantera negra muy curiosos de ver ya que dónde se encuentran es un sitio más o menos pequeño y los ves a través de un cristal, por lo que es facilísimo observarlos. Tienen una especie de merendero al sol y un techadito con sombra para comer o tomarte algo. Puedes llevar comida hecha o pedir algo allí. Los precios del chiringuito son bien económicos… lo típico; hamburguesa con patatas y bebidas por 6/7€… los helados a 1€.. así que si vas con niños seguro encontráis algo que comer y barato. El parking también sin problema, es ancho y largo así que incluso había alguna autocaravana…

A ver, calidad precio está súper bien! El Zoo lo ves entero y disfrutas de darle de comer a los animales en 2 horitas (si vas con niños que se paran mil veces jajaja) pero no es un Zoo al uso… es algo más “familiar” más chiquitito pero muy acogedor.

Seguro que volveremos en unos años cuando los peques sean más mayores!!!
