Wot to say. As expected excellent. Absolutely brilliant. Yes the road is rough ( Loose gravel ) Yes there is no Mc Donald’s Yes all that’s there is the cemetery But. It’s the . Actual place Clint stood Yes yes yes. Thank u to all that helped get it back. To were it is. Today. In the summer. Early evening is the best time to go. Cooler. And there is definitely enough room for camper vans and loads of room for tents. Nothing says u can’t camp there. We drove there in a car. Best place to stay is the hotel in town. ( center ) Very cheap but really nice with a pool. Next to abbey. 15 min drive to cemetery I got carried away buying sad hill stuff in the town. Unfortunately it’s all very cheap. And doesn’t last. Especially the lighters Shame but just enjoy it. It’s. Impossible to give this any less than 5 stars 100 stars from me. It’s a non funded film set. In the country side. Brilliant. Just brilliant If it helps. I would be willing to live there. And Keep the place Looking amazing. If anyone wants to pay me. Be the...

Sad Hill is movie history. Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef filmed the quintessential scene of The Good The Bad and The Ugly (Zwei glorreiche Halunken in German) here -- widely recognized as one of the greatest cinematic achievements in history, ranking highly in most best-of lists. Leone and composer Morricone turned the "triello" (the final, nearly neverending shootout) into something unreal, and Sad Hill is the "cemetery" at whose center this history-making took place.

In 2016, on the occasion of the film's 50th anniversary, a group of local cineastes and volunteers restored the site, bringing it back to its original movie glory. Their work cannot be lauded and praised enough -- being there now is a true marvel, triggering rich thoughts and feelings of those who loved the film and it's director's work. If you are among those, a visit is highly recommended, regardless from where you are.

And regardless what the outer conditions are -- "Sad Hill" will do its job come rain or shine. (I was there on a cold and wet day in March 2017... -- and more recently on a sunny and...

I did Sad Hill on my motorcycle and if you are a fan of the films you will love being there.

I did this on my motorcycle and there are two ways to get there. I did this on my 1200RT, a road touring bike that does not like off roading.

Both paths will get you there, though one way more uncomfortable than the other.

The path that starts at Santo Domingo de Silos is rough, it does give you a remote high view of the site that is amazing but on a bike there is no way you can make a photo. Potholes are huge, and sometimes the gravel filled holes can be a nasty surprised. Having said that my bike managed ok and bikes with better suspension it would probably be fun.

The other approach is from Contreras and that one is much better. The only thing you need to pay attention to are the drains that cross the road every couple hundred meters and that could cause havoc. To your suspension, but not as much to the potholes on the other approach.

If they view you get for a couple of seconds coming from Santo Domingo de Silos woud not bo so great it would be...

If you ever watched, enjoyed and loved the 1966 Sergio Leone western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, then this is a must-see. It is located in a breathtakingly beautiful valley about 3 km from the picturesque village of Santo Domingo de Silos, via a steep dirt track. The track is accessible by any type of car, no 4x4 necessary, although the route is not ideal for inexperienced or nervous drivers. There is a steep ascent and then a steep descent before the car park is reached. This all takes about 15 to 20 minutes. It is recommendable to drive dead slow, due to the poor state of the dirt track. A very short walk leads to the "cemetery" of Sad Hill, which has been restored to something approaching its original state by fans and volunteers, many of whom are locals from the surrounding villages. The location is also accessible from the village of Contreras, again via a narrow dirt track but this takes longer, a good 25 minutes. A truly remarkable experience for anybody who is a fan of Sergio Leone's work, Clint Eastwood and westerns in general.

Sad Hill Cemetery is one of those mythical places that had been in my plans for a few years. I finally had the chance to visit the site and I didn't waste my time. The scene that was recorded here, from the movie "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", is one of the most iconic in cinema, and being able to be in the exact same place where Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef recorded the famous mexican standoff, was great. The site was brought back to life, by the Asociación Cultural Sad Hill, after 50 years of abandonment. And what a great job they've done!!! Upon arrival, next to the fence, there is plenty of parking and it is free. The last 4km of the path are on a dirt road. The location is far from almost everywhere, but it's well worth the visit for any fan of the movie.
