Bodega Can Gelat — Attraction in Selva

We visited this vineyard for tapas and wine tasting at the end of September, on a beautiful evening. It’s located in a quiet part of Mallorca, surrounded by a few picturesque villages. The owners were incredibly welcoming and took the time to walk us through the vineyard, explaining more about their wines, the land, and their process. The wines were delicious — a big plus being that they’re ecological. The seating area, set right in the middle of the vines, is beautifully designed and creates such a relaxed atmosphere. We had a fabulous tasting and lunch. 7 of us visiting from the US booked a tasting with a request to also learn about the viticulture and winery decisions. Wm Lochtenberg, the owner spent a good hour describing the soils, organic farming decisions, climate, selection of the varieties and more. We walked there the vineyard where we could appreciate the limestone soils and aspects. This was followed by a fabulous Paella lunch and wine tasting. We also sampled the olive oil.
