Ojuel Vinos Naturales is an absolute gem! Our guide, Mila, took us on an unforgettable journey through the winery's captivating vineyards, expertly detailing the nuances of the grapes and the magical transformation process they undergo to become wine.
The highlight of the tour was observing the fascinating process of grape drying for their exceptional 'supurao' wine. It's not every day you get to witness the behind-the-scenes action of such a meticulous practice. Following this, we were treated to an incredible wine tasting experience in a breathtaking, centuries-old bodega, with rows of aged barrels and slate. The wines we tasted were nothing short of extraordinary, with each variety expressing a unique character and depth of flavor.
What sets Ojuel Vinos Naturales apart is their unwavering commitment to producing natural wines using ethical practices. Their remarkable White Tempranillo and all other wines are a testament to their dedication to quality, sustainability, and respect for tradition.
Adding a delightful personal touch to the tour was the chance to meet Mila's grandson, Miguel, an absolute delight who instantly bonded with our dog. Their welcoming attitude towards all members of our family, including our four-legged friend, truly warmed our hearts.
In summary, our 3-hour tour was more than just a visit; it was a thrilling adventure that immersed us in the art of winemaking. I cannot praise Ojuel Vinos Naturales enough and I urge all wine lovers to experience this enchanting journey for themselves. You'll leave with not just a bottle, but a deep appreciation for natural wines and the beautiful family values that Ojuel...
Read moreOur visit to Bodegas Ojuel was one the highlights of our time in La Rioja. Irantzu and Miguel gave us a personalized tour through their facilities and several of their vineyards with wonderful views. They shared the incredible history of their project and they gave us to try several of their delicious wines. This family run winery is built out of the passion of winemaker Miguel to craft an unique wine that rescue the heritage of the past generations and that is respectful with the environment. It was great to learn directly from him and share some time feeling to be part of their family and their project. I highly recommend reaching out to them and visiting their winery. I'd love to visit again in different times of the year to be able to experience different parts of the process, helping out in the harvest, seeing the "colgaderas" full of grapes or seeing the press working. We are really thankful to Miguel and Irantzu for having shared this beautiful...
Read moreMy husband and I were in Spain for a 2 week vacation, and in Rioja we toured two very different producers. The first is a small producer called Ojuel - no sign on the door but don’t worry when the GPS says you’re there. WOW. Supurao is a sweet wine made from green harvested grapes that are first dried through the winter then pressed. It has great acidity for a sweet wine. The best part was the tour by a certified sommelier. Also private. Walked the vineyards and saw the production. Fantastic wine - we've been all over Tuscany, Piemonte, Mendoza/Cafayate, and Napa and this is worth coming home with a case. Each bottle has a different butterfly on the label, because it’s the butterfly that tends to be seen around...
