Western Leone — Attraction in Tabernas

This is the place for movie fans, cinephiles, and those who grew up with the classical Westerns. If you’re looking for a theme-park-like experience where your dopamine gets a kick every minute, this is not the place for you.

The buildings are real movie sets; you can tell because many are just facades and empty inside - or have a completely different front on the other side. My partner is a filmmaker, Westerns started his love for movies, so we had a great time here. We don’t like crowds at all, and this place was quiet - maybe 10 other people when we visited (February Sunday).

The saloon show was, for me, 10x better than the Oasys one. The actors were charismatic, funny, and got the audience involved in the scene. It was in Spanish but straightforward enough that I could translate it for my partner and he was laughing along :)

The place does look like it’s not being well-maintained, but in my opinion that just adds to its authentic feel.

The one huge minus, for me, was the lack of animal welfare concerns. The 5 horses had their heads tied up next to a trough, facing a concrete wall, with very little room for movement. There was also a donkey tied up next to a tree. Hopefully they give them more shade and movement during the...

Are you a fan of original, authentic, quirky and unique experiences that have not been cleansed by modern consumerism? Well you’re in for a treat! Previous reviews have mentioned that the staff are drunk, mentally ill or not up to the job. In our experience, this was not the case and the staff were simply in character and extremely enthusiastic about their roles. The show is in Spanish and although we didn’t understand it we still thoroughly enjoyed it, felt very welcome and had fun. As per my starting comment, you require imagination and curiosity as it is one of the original film sets that has not been changed much over the years. If you are after a more sanitised version try the other parks but in my opinion you’re missing out if you don’t visit this wonderful western world. P.s There were no catering facilities we were aware of, beverages (coke and beer) were available and the toilets were exceptionally clean (despite other reviews stating otherwise). P.p.s We witnessed the animals being taken care of with regular watering and being kept in the shade contrary to other reports. Also, we didn’t take part in the horse rides but witnessed others that did and they enjoyed it...

Visitar esta auténtica joya del cine western me produce una emoción indescriptible, pisar esta arena y contemplar estos ya mal cuidados escenarios me emociona. He visto a Armónica bajar las escaleras apuntando a Cheyenne para reclamar los 5.000$ para comprar Sweetwater y que la bella Jill McBeal no quede arruinada, he visto al implacable Frank mirando hacia arriba para abatir a sus secuaces traidores y si, me he emocionado como un niño, ha sido intenso, hubiera estado bien venir con mi padre aunque estaba muy presente... No pudo ser.

Tienen aquí los almerienses en primer lugar y el resto del mundo también una auténtica joya del cine, aquí rodó el grandísimo maestro Sergio Leone una de sus más y mayores obres de arte del cine de western y del cine en general (catalogada como una de las 10 mejores películas de la historia el cine... que no es poco). “Once Upon a time in the west” (nefasta e ignorantemente traducida aquí como “Hasta que llego su hora” -. Gracias por el spoiler, estúpido traductor-) Fue rodada casi íntegramente en estos parajes, aquí, donde estoy yo !!!.... Una sublime dirección, (aprende Tarantino) espectacular reparto, guion y ejecución de la acción, hacen de esta película (para los muy aficionados al western, pacientes y melómanos, sobre todo...) una infinita obra de arte contemporáneo. La soberbia partitura del único y grande Ennio Morricone hacen temblar los parpados y el mentón... Esos soberbios 20 minutos iniciales, con esos soberbios actores (magistrales Jack Elam y Woody Strode), y esa música de acompañamiento (gracias de nuevo amigo Ennio Morricone) con la divina voz de Edda Dell'Orso y el inseparable Alessandro Alessandroni me hacen sonreír y sentirme, ahora y aquí, el tio más privilegiado del mundo.

He visto y notado una ausencia de estamentos municipales, locales y/o autonómicos para hacer remontar esta joya... Es exhapestarnte comprovar como un paraje de importancia universal està dejado de la mano de Dios y muchos mitos locales disponen de las reberencias , reconocimientos y referencias más grandes.... (La España profunda no mejora, es así) me hace sentir triste e impotente, pero no marchitará la emoción de la visita.

Sería bueno recordar por parte de las autoridades culturales competentes a la población cercana que esto también es cultura Local y mundial. No deberíamos dejar caer en la ruina semejante obra de arte...

Para quien quiera conocer más sobre el tema, otra auténtica obra de arte en forma de libro (librazo) de Christopher Frayling y su SERGIO LEONE: Algo que ver con la muerte – T & B Editores. Para los muy adictos a Leone y al western... Y a Tabernas y sus escenarios). Aunque la mejor recompensa sería llenar estos parajes de visitantes. Es HISTÓRIA DEL CINE MUNDIAL de lo que estamos hablando, de un calado INTERNACIONAL. Jodeeeeeeeeer.

Ya hace años que me prometí visitarlo, antes lo tuve más cerca, pero la apatía me cautivó... Por suerte no hay distancia que me impida cumplir mi sueño. (personas si, distancias no).
