We had a wonderful wine experience with Alejandro and Bodega La Divisa. The price of the tasting is higher than average at €40 per person, but that is made up with the quality of the wine and Alejandro’s passion, knowledge and friendliness towards his guests. The road to the premises is a gravel road, but was very manageable with a normal car. Inside the premises looked somewhat neglected and could be improved with a little more diligent cleaning, but the winemaking area looked spotless. We made a short tour of the vineyards, where he explain the special microclimate responsible for the wine and subsoil. What is especially remarkable is that these grapes do not need artificial irrigation, rare for wines of the Granada region. The area is gorgeous, with amazing views of the Sierra Nevada and the sea, but also a Cork Oak forest and diverse wildlife nearby. The wines are very well made, with a lot of experimentation over the years to make them very smooth to drink and some with quite unique flavour profiles. Most are made with ‘noble’ and popular grape varieties, but some have traditional varieties. The prices of the bottles are also higher than average, but given the old vines and the small batches of a few hundred to low thousands bottles with which they are made, that shouldn’t be a surprise. And they are quite tasty and addictive too. All in all, a very recommendable experience and wish Alejandro and the winery...
Read moreOne of the highlights of our holiday. The winding roads en-route provided stunning views of the beautiful mountainous area. We drove up the long driveway and discovered that we were the only group on the tour. Alex was a wonderful host, full of interesting information and passion. He was a lovely presence throughout the tour, making the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. We saw the vines, tasted different kinds of grapes, learned about the importance of weather conditions, soil types, the age of the vines, pruning, different types of fermentation, how the type of storage affects the overall taste of the wine. It was so interesting as someone who has very little knowledge of wine production. The experience was topped off with a wine-tasting. We sat at a table and tapas was brought out, followed by the promised three wines...then four...then five...then six...then seven...then eight...then nine. Alex was so generous and seemed genuinely happy to share his wines and his experience with us. A wonderful experience and I would...
Read moreWe recently visited Bodegas La Divisa as a group of friends, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip through Andalucía. The location, nestled high in the Alpujarra mountains, offers breathtaking views and a sense of calm that perfectly matches the spirit of their organic, high-altitude wines with microscopic production. Alejandro, the proprietor, welcomed us personally and guided us through both the vineyard and the winery with passion and knowledge. The tasting session was exceptional—each wine had a distinctive character, from elegant reds to beautifully balanced whites full of freshness and mountain minerality. And highly surprisingly to us not accustomed to pleasent Spanish rose’s (they tend to be too dark and heavy) the rose was also delightful. We left not only with several bottles but with a strong wish to return. A visit and purchase here are highly recommended for any wine lover exploring...
