This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. We had an amazing day driving in a circular route through the valleys and mountains. We drove from Playa del Ingles, through Aguimes and into the Barranco de Guayadeque, from here we drove on to the Caldera de Marteles and then continued up onto the Pico de las Nieves. After, we drove back through the forests, via Roque Nublo, through the Fataga valley, stopping at Degollada de La Yegua, and then on back to our hotel. That day we must have said "wow" so many times that we would have never kept count.

We managed the drive in a small eco friendly automatic Corsa - so don't be put off by the drive! It was slightly unnerving at times with the steepness of the roads and the tight bends, but the scenery more than made up for it. It was a clear and warm day when we went, but oh how windy it was when we arrived at the top! My partner held on to me for dear life as he was worried I was going to blow away. There were some clouds on the day we went, but we thought they just added to the atmosphere at the top - plus, it was still clear enough to see all the way to Mount Teide on Tenerife.

100% recommended - and if you were wondering how to slot a visit here into your trip, I would definitely recommend the route...

Pico de las Nieves offers breathtaking views from the highest point of Gran Canaria. It’s the perfect spot for hikers, nature lovers, or anyone seeking panoramic vistas of the island. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the coast and across the island’s rugged interior. The drive up is scenic, with winding roads and plenty of opportunities to stop for photos. Once at the top, the views are absolutely worth it. There’s a small observation area, and the surrounding landscape is stunning, with rocky peaks and lush greenery. It’s a great spot to take in the island’s natural beauty and escape the crowds. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy the outdoors and want to experience a different side of...

Our trip up to Pico de las Nieves was a great experience. The drive to the top was enjoyable, though it’s important to be mindful of the route you take. We didn’t use the main road, and on the smaller road we encountered a few confused individuals who appeared to be trying to get a ride uphill. This required some careful driving and attention to the surroundings.

Once at the summit, you’re rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view — definitely worth the effort. Be aware, however, that there is a military facility located nearby, so flying a drone is strictly prohibited in this area.

All in all, a beautiful destination with stunning views — just take care depending on which...
