We booked a visit & wine tasting directly via the vineyard's website. Having mentioned that one of us is gluten free on the booking form, they went above and beyond to ensure that they could also join in and not be put at a disadvantage as to what to pair with the wine.
The wine tasting itself was thoroughly enjoyable - I would recommend it particularly for any beginner just getting started in the world of wine, as no prior knowledge of wines or wine-making was necessary - not only were the wines themselves particularly exquisite, but the tips for viewing, smelling, and tasting the wine were also incredibly informative. During this, our exceptionally knowledgable guide Tim also went through the general process of wine-making, and how this can differ with different varieties of wine (and made sure to quiz us to make sure we weren't getting too tipsy!)
After the wine tasting, we had a brief tour around the vineyard's equipment rooms, showing a number of key stages in the wine-making process, in addition to how this would have been done when the technology we have today was not around when the bodega first opened in 1947.
All in all, the whole experience took around 1.5-2 hours, and was without a doubt the best 25 euros (per person) spent across the whole holiday - a must if you're ever...
Read moreBodega Reverón is a very quaint and located at one of the highest points on the island, so the view is spectacular. Getting there, on the other hand, can be like an amusement park ride, and then some. For those of you coming from Costa Adeje or Playa las Americas, regardless of what your GPS says, stay on TF-51 all the way until reach the winery. This will help you avoid 30 degree inclines and single lane two-way roads without guardrails. We arrived at the winery at about 1 PM and it looked closed. It was not closed, possibly the owner was having a siesta and the barking German Shepherds announced our arrival. Once inside we really enjoyed our experience. The owner was friendly and willing to sample whichever wines we would like. The wines we tried were all excellent and we purchased a couple at VERY reasonable prices. The winery has a restaurant which we unfortunately did not try due to our harrowing drive up and fear of drinking our wine before we went back downhill. All in all the winery itself was a very good experience. Now that we have been baptized in mountain driving, revisiting Tenerife (and the winery), is in our...
Read moreWOW! We signed up for a tasting tour and ended up with so much more! We belong to a wine club at home where we meet once a month to taste and rate wines, and mostly just to learn! Tim, the amazingly knowledgeable sommelier not only taught us about wines, he also knew many things about the island that we had questions about! The staff were all amazing! It was like being invited into someone’s home with such hospitality that we will definitely go back! The tasting food was perfectly balanced and they even supplied a vegetarian option for me! The wines were delicious, we had already tried several Canary Islands wines and were familiar with the Liston blanco and Liston Negro which seems to be the main two varietals on the island. We loved both whites we got to try, but ended up taking home the blanco joven I love the “Alfred Hitchcock-esque “ image on the wines! Cool family tribute! Then we loved the red we tried but decided to try the award winning (just happened) Crianza 2019! Thank you all for a fabulous experience! We...
