One of the most peace & beautiful place! You can get opportunities to meet monks & interact with them! Being an Indian Monk asked me difference between Hinduism & Buddhism! Amazing conversation with the Monk!

This place one of the most under rated place near to Dambulla! No Entry Fee!

Ederagala Wana Senasuna is a serene Buddhist monastery nestled in the lush greenery of Sri Lanka. Located away from urban hustle, this monastery offers a peaceful retreat for monks and lay practitioners seeking spiritual solace. It is surrounded by dense forests, rocky outcrops, and scenic landscapes that create an ideal setting for meditation and mindfulness practices.

The monastery is known for its simplicity and adherence to traditional monastic discipline. Visitors can experience the tranquility of nature, interrupted only by the sounds of birds and rustling leaves. The caves and kuti (monastic dwellings) provide a secluded environment for meditation. The temple’s architecture blends seamlessly with the surrounding wilderness, adding to its charm and spiritual significance. Ederagala Wana Senasuna attracts both local and international visitors, particularly those interested in Theravāda Buddhism. The monks here follow a strict monastic routine, emphasizing meditation, chanting, and Dhamma discussions. Visitors are expected to observe silence and respect the monastery’s rules. Accessibility to the monastery may require some effort, as it is located in a remote area, often requiring a short trek. However, the journey is rewarding, as it offers breathtaking views and an opportunity to disconnect from modern distractions. Overall, Ederagala Wana Senasuna is a hidden gem for spiritual seekers and nature...

ඉතාම දර්ශනීය පෙදෙසක ඇති විහාරයකි....... This is a really wonderful small Buddhist Cave Temple which seems to be away from main tourist destinations. It is a short tuk tuk ride outside Dambulla on the A6 highway and is most definitely worth seeing. The small Temple is set in a cave and has beautiful decorative features and art work plus a huge statue of the Lord Buddha. One can climb higher up a flight of steps to the Stupa at the summit from where on a clear day you get absolutely stunning views over the countryside nearby including the Sigiriya Lion Rock. We were there alone and loved the place as it is so incredibly peaceful.
