Hanthana Bird Park is a great spot for nature lovers, couples, and families, set in the beautiful Hanthana mountains with a cool climate. ❄️🌿 Just 20-30 minutes from Kandy city, it's near the Ceylon Tea Museum, requiring a small hike to reach from there. 🏞️🥾 Free parking is available for over 50 vehicles. 🚗

The park has a variety of colorful birds 🦜🦢, creating a peaceful environment. It covers a large area with some uphill and downhill walks, giving visitors a bit of a workout. Some areas are under construction 🚧, as only phase 1 is completed, so expect some unfinished spots along the way. 🚶‍♂️

Entry fee for locals is Rs. 700 for adults and Rs. 400 for kids. For an extra Rs. 300, you can feed the parrots, which is a wonderful experience as they land on your hands and shoulders. 🐦💖

A staff member is present to assist and even take nice photos for you while you interact with the birds. 📸 However, before entering the feeding spots, you must leave your belongings outside, as the parrots tend to peck at small items. 🎒 The overall price of Rs. 1100 per person seems a bit high for what’s offered.

A waterfall is located inside the park, but unfortunately, it had no water when I visited. 🌊❌ There are also plenty of photo-worthy spots, including the well-known umbrella road ☂️ and scenic man-made backgrounds that add to the park’s charm. 📸🌳

Some free parrots are kept outside their cages with handlers, allowing visitors to touch and hold them for photos. 🦜🤲 However, be careful as they may scratch or nibble on buttons, earrings, or other small objects, so avoid wearing anything loose.

Apart from birds, the park features activities like bow-and-arrow target shooting 🎯, horse riding 🏇, and a Jurassic world-themed setup 🦖, though many of these are not operational. There’s also a small aquarium 🐟 under construction and a kids' play area 🛝, which adds some variety, but the lack of maintenance limits the experience.

3 canteens 🍽️ around the park, with one serving lunch options like fried rice. 🍛 The food selection is limited, but the prices are reasonable. Cleanliness inside these eateries could be better, and nearby restrooms 🚻 are functional but not well maintained.

The park has a large open space, but the bird cages are quite small, and there are no informational signs about the species. 🏚️🐦 Some birds appear stressed due to limited space, which could be improved with better enclosures and care.

A gift shop near the back gate sells souvenirs, including small bird figurines, keychains, and other collectibles. 🎁 While the prices are slightly high, it’s a nice place to grab a memory of your visit.

Beware of tuk-tuk drivers! 🚖⚠️ They block PickMe and Uber from entering and force visitors to pay unfair rates of Rs. 800 or more. 💰 If you need a ride, walk a little down the road where they can’t see you and book from there. The security staff doesn’t intervene, making this a frustrating issue. 🚨

The park doesn’t fully justify the ticket price, but with better maintenance and improvements, it could become a top tourist attraction. 🔥 Overall, it’s worth visiting for the experience—yours may be different from mine! 😊
