This place is truly a hidden gem. I spent 4 days here which were 4 of the best days in my life. The center is nested on a hill, so we are surrounded by nature and the visit of animals. People are very friendly, helpful, and humble.
There's a daily schedule which I think is very helpful for beginners to follow to cultivate a fruitful practice.
The room is basic yet very nice, the vegetarian food is incredibly amazing which reflects authentic Sri Lanka local cuisine. The teachers - the nuns and monks are also amazing people and easy to talk to, they'll teach you great lessons about Buddhism and meditation practice.
I had a perfect retreat here, beyond my expectations and I'm still so grateful for the chance to stay here.
If you want to deepen your meditation practice, or just want to begin your 1st step to meditation with a serious attitude, this place is for you.
I will come...
Read moreAfter spending 3 weeks at the Paramita Buddhist Center, I improved my ‘not thinking’ and kept with the meditation regime since then (it takes 21 days to create a healthy habit). The ground of the Center is a big wonderful garden on which different buildings are placed, my favorite was the big meditation hall and the library. The (2) monks and nun are kind and all the staff is super friendly and helpful. I really liked the meals =) and the group meditations. The noise from the street could be a handicap for some, but since I am living in a city, I have to learn to deal with sounds anyways. The schedule gives you time for yourself and your own practice. Long term accommodations are quite basic, if you are looking for a luxury meditation retreat this might not be your place. Hopefully I will come back again one day. Thanks for letting me...
Read moreWe had the opportunity to spend two days in this centre. We loved it. The staff is super welcoming. The place is stunning, pictures don't give credit to it. They have multiple rooms where to meditate surrounded by the forest and Ann (sorry if we spell your name wrong), the nun at the centre, is really a special person. Even if we only spent two days at the centre she was super helpful and a special guide for us. She spent time with us discussing concepts and answered our many questions with patience and simplicity. Also they cooked for us three really big meals a day, we got fat! Also they have a big library, a small temple, beautiful surroundings, and many noughty monkeys around the centre. Thank you for this experience! We'll definitely recommend it to friends and hopefully come back for...
