Last week, my family and I went on a trip to Pasikuda and stayed at Anantaya Beach Hotel. During our stay, we visited the Coconut Culture Park, which offered a lovely insight into the local traditions and coconut-based products. It was a calm and refreshing experience, perfect for relaxing and exploring a bit of culture.
We also took a short trip to see the Elephant Rock — a natural rock formation that looks like an elephant. The walk to reach it took about 20 minutes. The path was manageable, but the midday heat made it feel intense — honestly, we were roasting! However, once we got to the rock, the surroundings were much more peaceful. Read moreVery sweet lady called Kema at the counter. We managed to talk iwith a bit of Sinhala and English. The place sells souvenirs like sculptures, keytags, necklaces, and so on. I'm told their ice cream is THE best, but the ice cream gets ready by about 11 am or so. Hopefully we can try it before we leave. It's closed on Sundays, but open on other days from 9 to 5 or so. Read moreWe had such an amazing experience here! Bandara walked us round the estate which has 8,500 coconut trees. He took the time to show us all the machinery for the different parts of working with the coconuts (oven, grinder, making rope etc). He also let us try smoked coconut and grinded coconut and told us all about various other plants. We ended the tour with the most delicious coconut icecream.
