Angammedilla National Park — Attraction in North Central Province

Angammedilla National Park  is one of the new national parks in Sri Lanka. The region was designated national park on 6 June 2006. Originally Angammedilla was a forest reserve within the Minneriya-Girithale Sanctuary declared on 12 February 1988. The park is declared mainly to protect the drainage basin of Parakrama Samudra.Angammedilla also secures the drainage basins of Minneriya and Girithale irrigation tanks, water sources in Sudu Kanda (Sinhala for "White hill") and habitats and wildlife of the adjacent forests. It is located 225 kilometres (140 mi) away from Colomboin Polonnaruwa District.Amban river which is sourced by Sudu Kanda forms the southern border of the park. A mountain range stretches across the park from Girithale to Minneriya. In the drought period the park is very dry. In the rainy season, mountainous area receives more rainfall than the plains. Angammedilla park is a wildlife park north of Wasgamuwa National Park and bordering the Parakrama Samudra. You won't encounter that much of wildlife here compared to other national parks in the country but is an ideal place to relax. Elahera road from Bakamuna up to the point where you have to turn off towards the park entrance is really scenic and runs adjacent to the Elahera Minneriya Yoda Ela. There is a wildlife bungalow and a campsite situated within the park. Reservations can be made at the Department of Wildlife Conservation situated in Jayanthipura, Battaramulla or via the department website. අඟමැඬිල්ල... පොලොන්නරුව දිස්ත්‍රික්කය මෙම ඓතිහාසික ස්ථානයේදී සුවිසල්ව ගලා බසින අඹන් ගඟ දෙකට බෙදේ. ඉන් එක් ශාඛාවක් පරාක්‍රම සමුද්‍රයට දියවර සපයයි. වර්තමානයේ මෙහි ප්‍රමුඛ ලෙස දක්නට ලැබෙන්නේ පසුගිය සියවසේ මධ්‍ය කාල පරිච්ඡේදයේදී සේනානායකවරු ඉදි කළ වාරි නිර්මාණයි. නමුත් අතීත රජවරුන් විසින් නිර්මිත වාරි නිර්මාණවල කොටස්ද අදටත් ශේෂව පවතී. වස්ගමු වනමැද පිහිටි මෙම ස්ථානය අති රමණීයය. වැසි කාලයට (නොවැම්බර්, දෙසැම්බර්, ජනවාරි ) අඟමැඩිල්ල ඉතා ප්‍රචණ්ඩ ස්වරූපයක් උසුලයි. වියළි කාලයේදී නම් අඟමැඩිල්ල එතරම් රළු පරළු නැත. යමෙකුට දිය මගට බැසීමට වුවද වියළි සමයේ අවකාශය ඇත. ස්වභාවධර්මයට ආලය කරන්නකුට මෙම හරිත වර්ණ තුරු පියසත්, අලංකෘත ජල කඳත් දමා යෑමට නොසිතෙන තරම් සුන්දරත්වයක් මෙම ස්ථානය සතුව පවතී. අඟමැඩිල්ලේ සිට අඹන් ගඟ මධ්‍යයේ පෙනෙන චමත්කාරජනක මහා වෘක්ෂය අවට සුන්දරත්වය වඩ වඩාත් ඔප් නංවයි. සාම්ප්‍රදායික පොළොන්නරු ගමනින් බැහැරව මනරම්, නොඉඳුල් වනපෙත් ඔස්සේ පොළොන්නරු යෑමට සිතැති ඔබට අඟමැඩිල්ල සොඳුරු ගිමන්පලක් වනු නොඅනුමානය. පිවිසෙන හැටි… බකමූණ සිට ගිරිතලේ මාර්ගයේ එන විට අත්තණකඩවල ප්‍රදේශයෙන් දකුණට හැරී (ප්‍රදේශවාසීන්ගේ උපදෙස් අනුව) තරමක් අබලන් තාර පාරක කි.මි. 12-15 පමණ දුරක් ගිය කළ වස්ගමුව ජාතික වනෝද්‍යානයට සහ මාර්ගයට මායිම්ව මෙම ස්ථානය අපට නෙත ගැටේ. පොළොන්නරුවේ සිට පරාක්‍රම සමූද්‍රයේ වැව් බැම්ම මතින් පරාක්‍රම සමූද්‍රය ප්‍රදක්ෂිණා කරමින්ද අඟමැඩිල්ලට ලඟා විය හැක. මෙම මාර්ග කොටස කි.මි.20කට ආසන්න වන අතර ඉන් අඟමැඩිල්ලට ආසන්න ප්‍රදේශය බෙහෙවින් දුෂ්කර ගුරු පාරකි.

ලඟ පාත වෙනත් ආකර්ෂණයන්… අඟමැඩිල්ල වස්ගමුව ජාතික වනෝද්‍යානයට මායිම්ව පිහිටා ඇති නිසා මෙහි අලි ඇතුන් ඇතුළු සත්ව විශේෂ ගණනාවක් ගැවසේ. අඟමැඩිල්ල ආශ්‍රිතව කඳවුරු ලෑමේ හැකියාවක් වනජිවී දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව සපයා ඇති බව මා අසා ඇත. මීට අමතරව බකමූණ, ගිරිතලේ මාර්ගය ඔස්සේ අත්තනකඩවල පසු කරමින් කි.මි. කිහිපයක් ගිය කළ යෝධ ඇල දෙකඩ වෙන දියබෙදුම නම් ස්ථානය නෙත ගැටේ. මෙයින් දෙකඩ වන ජල කඳින් එක් කොටසක් මින්නේරිය ජලාශයටත් අනෙක් කොටස ගිරිතලේ ජලාශයටත් දියවර සපයයි.

පහසුකම්… අඟමැඩිල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේ කඳවුරු ලෑමට වන්ජීවී දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුවෙන් අවසර ලබා ගත හැකි බව අසා ඇත. ඒ හැරුණු කොට නවාතැන්පලවල් පොළොන්නරුවෙන් පහසුවෙන්ම සොයා ගත හැකිය. ආසන්නම ඉන්ධන පිරවුම්හල පොළොන්නරුවේ කදුරුවෙල පිහිටා ඇත. කිට්ටුතම රෝහලද පිහිටියේ පොළොන්නරුවේ කදුරුවෙලයි. මෙම ප්‍රදේශය එතරම් ජනතාවක් නොමැති නොඉඳුල් ප්‍රදේශයක් බවද සිහි තබාගන්න.
