Wadakada Falls, located in the Kurungala District of Sri Lanka, is a stunning natural wonder that beautifully combines breathtaking scenery with rich local folklore. The falls are formed by the merging streams from Ginnerriya, Endagalla, and Udapola, cascading six meters into a tranquil pool. This perennial waterfall becomes a lively hub during the rainy season, attracting locals and visitors eager to bathe in its refreshing waters.

Surrounded by lush woodland, Wadakada Falls is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including jungle fowl, leopards, and sambur deer. The vibrant flora, featuring species like gal siyambala and jack trees, enhances the picturesque landscape, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.

The falls are steeped in history, with legends surrounding King Walagamba and his queens who allegedly bathed here. The nearby Udapola Devalaya temple is linked to the falls through a folklore-rich tunnel, adding an element of mystery with tales of a snake and a hidden golden vessel.

Notably, Wadakada is also the home of poet Wadakada Navaratne, who drew inspiration from the falls in his pastoral works.

While visiting this enchanting site, it's crucial to be cautious, as the rocks can be slippery. Overall, Wadakada Falls is a must-visit destination for those seeking beauty, adventure, and a glimpse into the captivating stories of Sri...

Near Narammala, a small waterfall becomes even more beautiful during the rainy season. The water flows faster and louder, creating a peaceful sound. Surrounded by green plants and trees, the area looks fresh and colorful. Mist from the waterfall adds to its charm, making it a lovely place to relax or take photos. Although it’s somewhat difficult to reach, the journey is worth it for the calm and hidden beauty it offers. This quiet spot is perfect for anyone who enjoys nature’s untouched charm and a bit...

I visited Wadakada Ella with high hopes of seeing the beautiful waterfall, but unfortunately there was no water flowing that day due to the dry weather. Although I couldn’t witness the full beauty of the falls, the surrounding nature was still peaceful and refreshing. The journey itself was enjoyable, and the area has great potential during the rainy season. I would definitely love to visit again when the waterfall is in full flow. Nature lovers should check the weather before visiting to get the...
