Bo Ella — Attraction in Sabaragamuwa Province

Not good for bath.. Danger..

About a five minute's drive from Saradiel's hideout Utuwankanda, Bo Ella is a waterfall with a rather massive and immensely creepy base-pool. Creepy because it's so murky, stagnant and still and you just know that it'll pull you under if you venture in too far. Kind of reminiscent of the toxic lake at Camp Wannaweep in Kim Possible.

The characteristic feature of this particular fall is the massive rock/boulder dam separating the base pool and the river that flows from it. If you want to test your endurance, and push boundaries, try walking barefoot across the rocks at high noon. Bad idea, but it's sure to make you stronger (ie: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger).

Since the basepool looked too stagnant for our liking (with moss and stuff floating atop) we took a left turn to where there were multiple smaller pools and where the river actually flowed. There were some aunties washing clothes and we were just downstream of them, so we basically got soaped as well. No complaints on that end because we'd just finished a sweaty hike up Utuwankanda and needed to wash up anyway.

There are fish in it, but they pretty much leave you alone. As in, unlike in pools in Meemure, these guys don't do the whole foot-spa biting thing.

Keep in Mind That there are unexpectedly deep patches in this place.

The water flow can suddenly increase and accidents are pretty common.

This is Bo ella which is located in Sabaragamuwa Area, one of the best place to visit with family can enjoy well, safety bathing places for children’s naturally its there best place to dive and swim❤️ but bit danger its too deep those who don’t know swim please avoid bathing in the deep areas, and ask anyone who is from the village where is the safe place to bath. Because water is one of the dangerous thing in the world be careful while enjoying. And the most important thing is most of the family and boys are coming and having fun like bbq, drinking, cooking and all please take your waste with you and plastics i saw there are plastic bottles in the river plz avoid these kind of silly things when your going to the nature places where no is there to clean or protect. Great place. From the main road its located about 4km inside while passing the saradiel village. Can access by any kind of light vehicle and large parking space available. To Bo ella another 50m walk by a staircase. The Maha river passes a hugh rocky area by creating mini pools in the area which is ideal for bathing and can accomodate more than 50 people. However need to carefull because some pools are deep and have strong currents which can be deadly.
