I wish I could give 4 stars, but several aspects of our stay were disappointing. The rooms are significantly dated, the bedding is substandard, and the beds are uncomfortably short. For two guests, there was only a single beanbag chair and a wooden bench, necessitating that we sit on the bed. The price for two nights was exorbitant compared to similar accommodations. The toilets are antiquated and unusually low, and the bathroom lighting is inadequate. There was only one small fan for the entire space, which was insufficient given the influx of mosquitoes; having two fans, one on each side of the room, would be more effective.Additionally, the host's attitude shifted once he realized our activities were not booked through his hotel. He seemed indifferent and remarked dismissively that the providers were likely his former employees, which I found unprofessional and disdainful. Despite these drawbacks, the servers and the cook made the stay worth it with their exceptional service and attention to detail.Furthermore, reaching the retreat involves navigating a steep hill, which was only made possible by the assistance of a helpful man living by the road. There is no signage to indicate the way, and the path is a small footpath, which could easily be missed without guidance. On a positive note, the food was prepared exactly as requested, and the service was exceptional, hence the...
Read moreSafe, fun and kid-friendly! We stayed for 1 night with our 2 school-going kids, went for rafting and canyoning. They allocated 3 guides to my family of 4, two in our raft and another on a separate kayak. The guides gave clear safety briefings in English, checked that helmets and life jackets were worn correctly a few times during the excursion (they have kid-sizes), prioritized our safety and fun. Very experienced, patient and encouraged us along. The main guide could also name the birds we saw along the way! They’re great with kids, all 4 of us enjoyed the water activities and our stay there.
WiFi only in the long house where meals are served. Food was good. Lunch was local food, dinner was spaghetti. Tea and coffee at no extra charge (ask the staff at the long house to prep). Has other drinks and food on their menu that is chargeable (e.g. glass bottle Coke at 300LKR) Accept credit card payment. Room was comfortable, one wall fan, mosquito nets, towels, heated shower, flushing toilet with toilet paper and bidet. Could hear the river flowing beneath, watch the birds, and also spotted fireflies! Use insect repellent. Spotted some sand flies at the water edge. There is a tyre swing, and giant Jenga blocks to play with at the common area. We had to arrange our own transport there and to our next...
Read moreLast weekend (13 and 14 July) I went to Borderland for a PDP with my office team. I must say those days one of the best days of my life. And my team members also had the same feeling through out the stay.
The team was just amazing. Sujith, Alan, Supun, Isuru and few other guys were there that I cant recall the names properly, are truely deserve an applause for making our entire team comfortable during the activities, being supportive, friendly and making us confidence.
Expect two of us, all were non swimmers and had a huge afraid for water activities. But the BL team made all of to do rafting, canyoning and even river floating by supprting us to beat the fear. They all are well focused on the safety and the service is VFM.
The program was well planned and adapted to changes with Act of God which made us more happier. The learnings through the program are priceless.
Last but not least the Meals! Meals are just amazing. A true authentic Sr Lanakan taste was there for SL foods and the indian, western dishes also mouthwatering. Raja uncle and Dinesh had nailed it.
River faced eco friendly cabanas are there in the location which make you the stay more nature connected and comfortable.
