Pahanthudawa Waterfall, near Belihuloya, is a breathtaking spot that feels like a hidden paradise. The name "Pahanthudawa" comes from the Sinhala word for "oil lamp," and the natural rock pool truly resembles the shape of one such a unique and beautiful sight! The trail to the waterfall is short but a bit slippery, so wearing good shoes is a must. The surroundings are lush and green, with the peaceful sound of water flowing all around. The area is relatively untouched, making it perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and photographers. The water is crystal clear and cold perfect for dipping your feet in or just relaxing nearby. It's not a very crowded place, which makes the experience even more special. Tip: Be careful during the rainy season as rocks can be slippery and the current stronger. If you’re ever in the Sabaragamuwa area, don’t miss this hidden gem. It’s the kind of place that makes you stop and appreciate the beauty of Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰🌿

Nice place to visit with friends for a day out. Sometimes it's a bit crowded. But it doesn't affect the beauty. It has a small hike where you have to travel a little bit which isn't that hard. But the hike trail is fun. You have to cross the river and climb a sloped rock with the help of and rope. So it's a good experience for someone who hasn't done scouting or some outdoor activities. Do not dive in the pool as it is deep. There are several spots where you can bath safely. Those places are deep up to only your neck at max. So even a inexperienced swimmer can also dive there. There are several shops at the area where you can buy snacks or lunch. Overall worthy experience. Highly recommend.

A breathtaking waterfall worth the visit! Parking is limited, but if it’s not crowded you can drive closer along a small road that leads near the falls. Otherwise, parking is available along the main road. To reach the waterfall, you’ll need to cross the river — which is part of the adventure! There are two ways: • Rock hopping: Jump across the stones, though this can be tricky (and slippery) if water levels are high. • Balancing wall: Walk carefully along a narrow wall that works as a natural bridge. Both routes add a fun challenge before the reward — a truly stunning waterfall surrounded by nature.

Pahanthudawa Waterfall is a serene and captivating natural wonder nestled approximately 2 km from the quaint town of Belihuloya, along the A4 highway. Its name, derived from the Sinhala word "pahana" (lamp), aptly describes the unique lamp-wick shape of the deep pool at its base .

The journey to the waterfall involves a short trek through lush greenery, starting near the Belihuloya Rest House and passing a small hydropower plant. The trail, though moderately challenging, rewards hikers with breathtaking views and the soothing sounds of cascading water .

The waterfall itself, while not towering in height, boasts a mesmerizing beauty. The clear, cool waters form a tranquil pool, inviting visitors to pause and appreciate the surrounding biodiversity. However, caution is advised as the pool's depth is considerable, and sudden water level rises can occur, especially during the rainy season .

Best visited during the dry months, Pahanthudawa offers a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. The area is rich in flora and fauna, making it a haven for wildlife observers .

Overall, Pahanthudawa Waterfall is a must-visit destination for those seeking natural beauty and tranquility. Its unique formation and serene environment provide a memorable experience that highlights the diverse landscapes...
