Makeli Ella Waterfall, located in the serene Kelinkanda region, is an idyllic natural retreat that captures the essence of Sri Lanka's breathtaking beauty. Surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of cascading water, the site offers a tranquil escape from the bustle of daily life.

One of the standout features of Makeli Ella is its unspoiled environment. The journey to the waterfall involves navigating steep steps, which may require some physical effort, but the view is undoubtedly worth it. The waterfall itself cascades gracefully over a rocky cliff, creating a picturesque scene that feels almost magical.

Although swimming is not permitted in the falls due to safety concerns, the atmosphere alone is enough to make the visit memorable. The cool mist from the falls and the surrounding forest create a refreshing ambiance, perfect for relaxation or photography. For nature enthusiasts, Makeli Ella is a haven for observing the region’s rich biodiversity, with vibrant flora and fauna adding to the enchanting experience.

However, potential visitors should be prepared for the steep descent to the falls, as it might pose a challenge for individuals with mobility issues. Proper footwear is recommended to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Additionally, since the site is less commercialized, amenities such as restrooms or eateries are limited, so packing essentials beforehand is advised.

Overall, Makeli Ella Waterfall is a gem for those seeking peace and a connection with nature. Whether you’re a photographer, a nature lover, or simply someone in need of a tranquil retreat, this spot offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you longing to return. Its pristine beauty and calming ambiance make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the wonders...

Makeli Falls is a beautiful waterfall. it is located in a place that is very easily accessible to such a tourist. It belongs to the Kalutara District. The existence of this waterfall and the various legends associated with it can be identified in the study of folklore.

The waterfall is very scenic but it is very dangerous to go down near the waterfall. At present, about 50 tourists have died while visiting this place. Therefore, it is very safe to view this waterfall from the waterfall viewing point. There is also a sign bord at the starting point of access to the waterfall about the insecurity here. People living in the area say that a person who visits this waterfall at least once a year dies. Adjacent to this waterfall are two ditches 50 -60 feet deep. It is very difficult for a very talented swimmer to swim from that place.

Archaeological evidence suggests that Prince Veediya Bandara was hiding in this place for protection. Due to the rocky gorges and water gorges in the area, it is considered to be well protected. All of you who love the environment, it is very important to keep the surroundings clean here. Visitors to the waterfall are not charged and parking is charged at Rs. 50 per hour only.

If you wish to visit this place using public transport, you should take the 437 Kelinkanda Matugama bus.

I remind you again and again that bathing in this place and going down from the viewing point is very dangerous. Have a nice...

Makeli waterfall is a popular waterfall in Kalutara district. This impressive waterfall is created by the Makeli Oya, the tributary of the Kalu Ganga. When the river is swollen with water the waterfall become more attractive, but the current of water is more powerful and the base of the waterfall is very dangerous. You can have a very nice view of the waterfall standing on the platform constructed at waterfall. You can feel very mild climate because of the shady forest around. The road leading to the waterfall also lies through a shady forest. The sound of the singing bids and the sound of the chirping crickets refresh the visitors physically and mentally. You can enjoy the glamour of the waterfall, but don’t try to have a bath in the pool at the base of the waterfall because there is a hidden danger under the natural beauty. A few persons have lost their lives at this waterfall. These natural creations are for your enjoyment, physical and mental relaxation indeed. Be a real nature- lover! Protect the...
