Such a peaceful place to visit whenever you want to have a fresh water bath and to observe fresh air from the Finest Rain forest, The beauty of the waterfall left me in awe and the peaceful sound of water falling was so calming. 15m height Ranmudu Ella is situated at Labugama in Colombo District. The closest city is Avissawella. To Reach this waterfall you may take the right turn from Puwakpitiya Railway Station towards Thunmodara for 9.2kms, Ranmudu Ellas was given it's name due to "Gold" "Ring" as per the legends. It was King Seethawaka Rajasinghe who lost his gold ring at this venue while bathing. Hence the waterfall was called as Gold Ring waterfall, in Sinhala it is RanMudu Ella. I highly recommend visiting this waterfall but please remember to bring all your rubbish with you and do not litter. This place is a true gift of nature and we should all do our part to preserve its beauty. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience and I cannot wait to go back again. If you have the chance, do not hesitate to visit this beautiful waterfall. 🤩

Last Visited Dec 2019. During the past 15 years more commercialized how it used to be, still peaceful place to be with family or friends. Parking is along the road only. 10 cars wont be an issue, careful not to park on the bends. Heavy vehicles travelling along the way may be a danger. Being there early as possible gives you an edge, multiple locations which looks like a natural pool, but the best is at the top. newly built low end restaurant is a new addition. Looks ok and not very expensive. If you want a changing room they have one, apparently Rs20 per person. Guess its free if you get food from them. have a toilet up in the mountain but thats just for name sake, better to avoid. Water is clean, but better to be careful during the rainy season since water can raise suddenly, no record of having flash floods upto now. but better be careful if you are with kids.

If you're looking for a unique and refreshing experience in nature, Ranmudu Ella is definitely worth checking out. The waterfall and its pool are a beautiful sight to behold, and jumping into the water is a great way to cool off on a hot day. One of the most memorable aspects of the experience is the interaction with the fish, who come up to your legs and give you a natural "foot spa" by nibbling away at the dead skin. It can be quite ticklish, but it's also a fun and novel sensation. That being said, it's important to be aware of the potential dangers of visiting Ranmudu Ella during the rainy season. The water level can rise suddenly and dramatically, which could pose a serious risk to swimmers. Make sure to check the weather forecast and water conditions before you go, and always exercise caution when swimming in natural bodies of water

Ranmudu Ella lies near the little village of Thunmodara, and hence its name. The waterfall is located on a minor tributary of the Kelani River and two breaks with a total height of 15 m. The breaks separate the falls into three distinct parts; Upper, Middle and Lower. The upper part is more of a cascade down nearly vertical rocks. However, the middle part is mostly composed of rapids and whitewater gushing from underneath a wooden bridge from which visitors can view the sight. The lower part ends in a base pool that is reasonably shallow enough to swim in.

While this waterfall has remained hidden till recent times, an influx of newly enlightened visitors has resulted in an increase in pollution. The locals have been working to keep the place clean; so we humbly request that you do not pollute these natural treasures while visiting. This waterfall can be reached by traveling past the Thunmodara Bridge towards Dambora and then take the concrete road left for about 500 m, leading direct...
