Learn moreWater World Kelaniya offers a delightful and educational experience for visitors of all ages, making it an ideal destination for a family outing. During my visit, I was thoroughly impressed by the variety of aquatic life on display. The exhibits showcased an extensive array of fish species, providing a captivating glimpse into the underwater world.
Another notable feature of Water World Kelaniya is the Bird Sanctuary. This area offers a serene environment where visitors can observe a wide variety of bird species in beautifully designed enclosures.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the River Safari and the Underwater Tunnel. The River Safari provided a unique and immersive experience, allowing us to observe aquatic creatures in their natural-like habitats. The Underwater Tunnel was equally mesmerizing, offering a 180-degree view of marine life swimming gracefully around us. These attractions are particularly engaging for children, who can learn about marine biodiversity in a fun and interactive way.
While the overall experience at Water World Kelaniya was positive, there are areas that could benefit from improvement. The housekeeping and cleanliness, especially in the restrooms, need significant attention. Clean and well-maintained facilities are crucial for ensuring a comfortable visit, and addressing these issues would greatly enhance the visitor experience.
Additionally, the presence of a good food court or canteen with a hygienic atmosphere would be a welcome addition. Offering a variety of healthy and tasty food options in a clean environment would provide visitors with a convenient place to relax and refresh during their visit.
In summary, Water World Kelaniya is a fantastic place to visit, especially with kids, thanks to its impressive exhibits and engaging attractions like the River Safari and Underwater Tunnel. By improving housekeeping and adding a quality food court, the facility could offer an even better experience for all...
Read moreThe place is beautiful with a lot of different kinds of fish, However I wish that they could have been in a more open water sources than embedded fish tanks.
There are few open water ponds and tanks where they have many colourful schools of fish swimming around refreshing and bringing a tranquility to the minds of the visitor whereas there's even a glass tunnel where the visitor can go in while small sharks can be seen swimming on top of us!
The fish are labeled with loads of information that have an invaluable educational and scientific value where students can learn a lot about these creatures. There were some fish which are worth over LKR 500,000 and these can be even purchased at their shop near to the entrance or the parking where you can buy many different and colourful fish!
The shop has many additional accessories, tools and decorations required for raising pet fish and building a complete fish tank. However, when I visited there, there were only 2 workers were at the shop and that was not nearly enough to satisfy the crowd there at the shop!
Overall, it is quite fascinating but I always feel that it was quite the same all the way and they could have changed the way the tanks are arranged to bring it a bit novelty and a refreshment! I don't know that's how I feel and it was okay... aah also, there were some birds in there too like emu, peacocks and parrots!
It was nice strolling around those lanes seeing how the fish react to you but sometime it saddening to thing that they are living in a small cage day by day till the death comes knocking! There was one tank also with just only 1 fish and that creature look heartbroken! That is so depressing!😥💔
Anyhow, it was quite pleasant that evening! The price of a ticket is LKR 350.00 (if I am not mistaken)😋
I think I covered up all what I have seen and thank you for reading! Have...
Read morePrepare to dedicate at least 4 hours for a thorough exploration of the fish and bird exhibits. The venue is divided into four main sections: Water World, Bird Park, Under Water Tunnel and River Safari. The Water World section is the first stop, with the option to seamlessly transition to the Bird Park from the same entrance. Upon entry, you'll encounter a Koi fish pond where visitors are welcome to feed the fish at no cost, with fish food provided by staff. However, other fish tanks and ponds are off-limits for feeding activities. A variety of fish species are on display, and towards the end of this section, amenities such as a restaurant, rest area, Under Water Tunnel and Air Rifle Range are available. Bringing outside food is permitted.
Next the resting area and the air rifle range, you have the opportunity to encounter South Asia's first underwater tunnel experience.
Moving on to the Bird Park, visitors can admire various parrots and other bird species. Within the Bird Park area, you'll also find the option to enjoy a River Safari, offering a unique perspective of the surroundings. The boat ride typically lasts around 15 minutes before returning you to continue your bird watching journey. The Bird Park finale features a grand circular fish tank housing large fish.
As you exit, you'll have the opportunity to feed birds by hand at no extra cost, providing a memorable experience as the birds flock around you to eat. Bird feeding times (probably 10.00 am, 12 noon, 2.00 pm, 4.00 pm) are either announced via a public announcement system or displayed at the bird cage at the exit.
Parking is available nearby, though fees apply, and it's advisable to avoid visiting on public holidays and weekends to minimize crowds. Personal experience on May 1st revealed fewer visitors, offering a more relaxed atmosphere for...
