Beautiful location along the coastline of North Commewijne. The beach stretches for a very long distance along the coast, you can also find nesting grounds for sea turtles in this area. You can reach this place by boat only. You can find those around Blauwgrond usually. People usually combine a trip to Braamspunt together with dolphin spotting or a tour along the old plantations of Commewijne. This is also a very good location to do Kite surfing, itâs quite windy. There are no people living there, only a few fishermen who live on the beach, they have made huts where they stay and work. They also have some dogs, so best to avoid that part, because in my experience they do litter sometimes. Good location to spend the day (picnic), bring plenty of sunscreen. Be very careful when you decide to go swimming here, because there was an incident on 20 Feb 2021 where 2 teenagers drowned, swept by the current. People used to dig sand with excavators there so there might be deeper parts along the beach or even unstable sand parts. Many people have advised not to swim there, the DC of Commewijne should really put signs warning...

You can spot sea turtle tracks along the shore, watch driftwood washed up by the tide, and see boatsâbig and smallâpassing by up close. It's a popular spot for bathing and fishing. I learned that there used to be a ranger station here to keep the area safe and clean, but it was destroyed in a storm and hasnât been rebuilt. There are no shelters, so be prepared for direct sun or rain exposure. Despite the issues, the area still holds a lot of natural beauty...
