We were staying in Tandådalen and decided to drive up to Njupeskär in Fulufjällen's natural park to see Sweden's highest waterfall. The parking lot was crowded (this summer with the Covid-19 lockdown, most Swedes have decided to stay in Sweden and according to locals the number of visitors have gone up significantly), but we managed to find space to park the car.
The trail that leads up to the bottom of the waterfall is a bit hilly but does not require hiking shoes (except for persons who want to get very close to the waterfall over the rocks - here, stable shoes are recommended). It is also possible to hike to the top of the waterfall but here one needs stable shoes as the trail is a bit rough.
All in all, the surrounding national park and the impressing waterfall was well worth the trip. Also, while here, don't miss the opportunity to visit the oldest tree in the world - "old tjikko". We chose the longer hiking route back down—challenging at times, especially with rocky paths and steep drop-offs into the valley—but absolutely worth the effort. The views were stunning, and the experience was unforgettable.
Facilities like parking and toilets were generally fine, although the toilets could have been a bit cleaner—but that’s understandable given the number of visitors. One tip: the café closes early, so we unfortunately missed it after our long hike.

You will not regret your decision to walk all the way to reach and view the emerald, yes the falls will actually looks like an emerald in complete white background...
Summer visit will give altogether experience with lots green scenery. You can go to top of the mountain to see the lake and water stream. You will have much more fun. Summer trekking is very popular, though you will not see any deer in this nature park.
