Älvsby bensinmuseum — Attraction in Älvsbyns kommun

Another gem in Älvsby, I had sometime in Älvsby before heading out of town. I used the Google map to Explore what is nearby and found out that there is a petrol head museum in Älvsby. I headed there, it was located in an industrial park, and there was no signage to the museum along the road as I could see. Google maps guide me to the right location.

It was an interesting museum, outside there was cars, a truck, and items from old petrol stations that has been left to the nature. Inside was a different story, the collection was not only cars, it was everything from signage, oil drums, oil cans to toy cars. The collection had a album showing picture of the petrol station were items has been collected from.

In the past there was gas station in most small village, family run business with the modernization of cars with better fuel milage and large corporate chains taken over the retailing of service. These small gas stations has gone out of business.

The Älvsby petrol head museum was created to preserve a pice of history of old gas stations for future generations.

Heute haben wir bei bestem Wetter einen Tag in Älvsby verbracht. Vorher schon mal Google gefragt, welche Orte sehenswert sind. Dabei sind wir auf dieses Museum gestoßen. Es hat sich absolut gelohnt!
