Disappointing Åre experience as this is NOT a place that is intended for beginners that want to improve their skiing, but for those that are well experienced and know how to ski. The ski pistes are marked mostly red, and they are very steep. Not well marked at the edges, so in the foggy days to go down most of the time would be considered adventurous. There are green pistes at the top of the mountain but the gondola and majority of ski lifts are not operational, and to get to them is simply impossible, as afterwards you do not have the option to go back with a gondola/ski lift, so you're either risking and going down the red pistes, or the blue piste that runs through the middle and is marked with dotted lines. This one is quite dangerous in at the top because the markings are not very clear, and in some places the track is only a meter and a half wide. If you're not experienced and do a wrong turn, you're going straight in the forest canyon. There is the Björnen option, but you need to do the hustle with the bus and then time it again to come back. Ski pass is 650 SEK which seems a bit too much considering you're going to ski during daylight which is from 10 until 14. The option to buy weekly pass is not something worth doing too, and you'll be forced to ski every day to use the money you paid. The only positive thing are the employees that are very friendly and positive. Sorry to say but Romme Alpin has a better organisation, and even though it is not as high and big as this one, it is a much better option for beginners. If you're a beginner, I don't...

Typisk svensk forsvar.

Ja I læste rigtigt; busserne holder frokostpause.

Ud over dette; hyggelig, rummelig, velbeliggende lejlighed.

Skiudlejningen fungerer godt.

God...

My favourite ski resort in Sweden.

I’ve been to Åre a few times, both early in the season (December) and late in the season (March) as a skier of different levels: from barely being able to do parallel turns to being comfortable on most slopes. I’ve enjoyed all the trips here.

The accommodation: I’ve only stayed in apartments in Åre. They sometimes come with a sauna and clothes dryer which is pretty nice to have.

The slopes: The Åre area is not super beginner friendly but you can find some easy slopes. Duved and Björnen are more beginner friendly. The slopes are well prepared, except once late season in Duved one slope was getting a bit bare.

The food: not cheap, reasonable quality overall but not at the same level as resorts like Les 3 Vallées in the French alps.

The service: high quality service. The rental staff are knowledgeable and helpful. In our most recent trip, we had a good experience with the ski patrol. We took a piste that’s not lit after sunset, which turned out to be a bad idea. They spotted us, didn’t blame us, told the operator of the snow groomer near us that two skiers were coming their way, which I assume was for safety reasons, and wished us a good day.

The cons: the days are short in December but there are lights on some slopes and there’s also...

I really, really, REALLY want to give Åre 5 out of 5, but I can't. The staff were super friendly, it's a good vibe in the resort, slopes and park are well built/groomed and the opportunities are vast. Out of two days skiing our first day were great, even though the conditions nor weather were something to write home about. The second day however, it was bluebird day with some wind. Many of the lifts were closed, which is understandable, but information about this were nowhere to be found. This resulted in missed trips and reoccurring monster waiting times in line. Each lift line could easily take 20-30 minutes or more, people was entering the line from left and right, and the lifts had frequent stops. As an example, when one of the T-hook lifts stopped they had to send a snowmobile from the bottom of the lift all the way up to reattach the safety wire. It shouldn't be too much to expect that when half of the lifts are closed, they'd put crew elsewhere to ensure a continuous operation of the lifts that actually were running. It was a huge let-down to buy a skiing pass for a full day, only to get 5-6 runs and hours of waiting time. I get that the weather wasn't the best, but I missed seeing the staff thriving to ensure a good experience spite the wind.
