Located about 20 kilometers west of Åre, this magnificent waterfall drops almost 40 meters and spans a width of 60 meters, creating a breathtaking display of nature's power and beauty.
The journey to Tännforsen is very accessible, with well-marked trails leading you through a scenic nature reserve. The path from the tourist station to the waterfall is about a kilometer long and takes around 30 minutes, offering numerous vantage points along the way. Each season transforms Tännforsen into a different spectacle: in spring, the melting snow creates an awe-inspiring torrent of water; in winter, the waterfall freezes into stunning ice formations.
During my visit, I was particularly enchanted by the lush, moss-covered forest surrounding the falls. The humid air from the waterfall supports a unique ecosystem, including several rare lichen species. The sound of the rushing water, combined with the sight of double rainbows forming in the mist, made the experience almost surreal.

✨ Best Waterfall in Sweden – A Must Visit! ✨
This is honestly the best waterfall we’ve seen in Sweden, and it’s definitely worth a visit! A few tips and things to know before you go: • 🌿 It’s a peaceful spot with very few people around – not at all crowded. • 📶 Public Wi-Fi is available right at the waterfall. Once you arrive, you can easily connect, which is great if you don’t have mobile internet. • 💳 Parking costs 40 SEK minimum for 2 hours. You can pay online or directly at the machine. The machine is super easy to use – just tap your bank card (contactless payment works). • 🚗 There’s plenty of parking available on-site. • 🛍️ You’ll find a souvenir shop and a couple of coffee shops nearby, but note that they close at 6 PM. • 💦 The waterfall itself is open 24/7! Don’t worry about the closing time listed on google map (we thought it closed at 6 PM, but it doesn’t). You can visit anytime, day or night.
