Locknekratern Meteoritcenter — Attraction in Östersunds kommun

I love small niche exhibitions about anything and that are driven by enthusiast. If you are of the same attitude, I recommend you to visit this particular exhibition. You realize that you know so little about precisely rocks, stones and meteorites. The stone exhibition itself would probably benefit from a refresh regarding new plaques and descriptions, which now bring the feeling back to a school library where the janitor wrote small notes with an old Facit typewriter. More praise for the fine exhibition on the ground floor, which feels really up-to-date and modern with good displays and a read-in story about Locknesjön. Also, don't miss the film showing about the meteorite impact that created today's locknesjö at a depth of 500m. No wonder the lake never got warm enough to swim in as a child... End the visit with some coffee in the café. Can miss homemade kanelbullar, but you can't...

Wir sind wegen unserem 5 jährigen Weltraumenthusiasten hierher gekommen und haben einen kleinen Umweg eingeplant. Eintritt für Erwachsene 120 pro Person (Stand 10.08.2021) ist für das gebotene aus meiner Sicht zu viel. Da aber die Kinder bis 12 frei sind (und auch Studierende mit Nachweis einen ermäßigten Eintritt erhalten...). sagen wir mal naja. Ein Begleitschreiben/Erklärung in deutsch haben wir an der Kasse erhalten. Dies war später dann schon gut. im ersten Stock waren diverse Steine verschiedener Regionen ausgestellt und benannt. Im EG ist ein kleiner Bereich für Kinder. Hier haben unsere Kids (2/5) ein Fossil in einem Sandkasten 'ausgegraben'. Dies sorgte für Abwechslung und Kurzweil. im anschließenden Raum werden dann die Meteoriten gezeigt. Auch ein Kurzabriss der Zeitalter ist dargestellt (extrem kurz). Nett gestaltet ist eine 'Höhle' an der Türe zu diesem Raum links, für Kids (sie kriechen dann auf der Rückseite / Lokalnähe wieder raus. das Highlight für unseren großen Sprössling war der knapp 10 Minuten Film in einem extra Kino über den Meteoriten, der in der Region niedergegangen sei. Alles in allem nett wenn man Zeit hat. Freundliches Personal. Interessante Mauer vor dem Haus mit verschiedenen Steinen... Für das gebotene finde ich es zu teuer. ... dies muss jeder aber Selber...

Very disapointing. Most parts of the exhibition are only in swedish (an aspect, that could have been told to an english speaking custumer bevor he buys the tickets). Some of the electric features of the exhibition like the uv-light or the headphones were not conected. The promised movie in the theater hasn't been played. The two teenage staff members we're playing cards instead of doing their job. It's not worth the 120...
