Silvermuseet — Attraction in Arjeplogs kommun

The museum shows local history in different facets. The life of the Sámi, their jewelry and utensils are shown exemplarily. But also something about the founder of the museum, the doctor Einar Wallquist, whose collection was the starting point. The surprisingly large first floor is unexpectedly modern in design.

The museum must of course try the impossible balancing act of combining the various exhibits into a whole exhibition. With some topics this succeeds excellently, with others the visitor can at least get a fragmentary impression of another time...

Absolutely amazing museum where you can learn about life in Arjeplog in the past, the cool sámi people, the nature and surroundings and the impressive doctor who worked in the area for decades and later established this museum after his retirement. Through a picture slideshow and rooms decorated as in the past, you could get a feeling how people actually lived. Also the museum staff were very friendly and shared their stories and experiences.
