Really nice volunteers keeping the railway in operation. The route leads through the heart of the forests of Öland right to the entry of Trollskogen. The small diesel engine (sometimes it's a steam engine) is running quite slow so that you have the chance to focus on the wonderful nature around you. Especially the shiny red cranberries next to the track are beautiful and very striking. For fans of old diesel operated engines: Your ears should be concentrated in order to listen to the unique sound 😉
Keep in mind that you can only pay with cash if you aren't a Swedish citizen (CreditCards are not accepted, only Cash and Swish)
All in all a very enjoyable ride...
Read moreAfter experiencing similar trains in Sweden, and Denmark, this one didn't really meet my expectations: The steam(coal) engine was perhaps under maintenance, hence, not used. The diesel 'engine'(didn't even look like an engine) they used wasn't eye-catching. There is almost no information about the train, the history, at least at the Böda station. The route itself is quite monotonous but that is not the problem, it is the lack of information, any traces of the operational history, and so on.
Visit it only if you have nothing else on your hands, even the kids might get...
