We had abit of luck with a heavy snowfall during our latest visit. Fresh snow made a huge difference and it was so much more enjoyable.
We've also experienced this ski resort close to the end of the ski season in April skiing on thinner remains of previous snowfalls, artificial snow, slushy or hard ice. It was still ok but more slippery, harder to brake and if you fall, you end up with a big wet patch.
🔸️ SLOPES Enough variety to keep beginners and amateurs happy. There are many green and blue family-friendly slopes. They are wide, well-ploughed, easy to navigate and the landscape is beautiful.
The red slopes are not too difficult or steep. A couple of them e.g. Boo feel like a blue slope.
The black slopes have challenging steep inclines, don't have much powder snow and you ski scraping hard ice most of the way. The views downhill are breathtaking and rewarding.
🔸️ LIFTS The chairlifts are well-managed, doesn't come at you too fast. We found it was easy to get on and has just a right amount of seating space. The rides are relatively smooth but get crazily bumpy when you almost reach the landing. So let the lift settle and don't be too quick to jump off.
The anchor lifts are fast moving and hard to grab unassisted. Otherwise, they are stable and fast moving.
🔸️ RESTAURANTS We enjoyed visiting the Våffelstugan for their delicious waffles but the menu is limited here.
There are more food choices at the Top Stugan but the place always feels more crowded and cramped.
🔸️ SKI RENTAL Ski hire without pre-booking can be a long a wait of at least 1 hour at peak season. Best to book online.
Quality of the skis and boots are ok abd and you can go back to change if they don't fit well.
🔸️ SKI PASS There is a quota of passes per day and the pass has to be bought online. The website is easy to use and was fast to purchase a pass.
🔸️ SKI SHOP You can buy new ski and snowboarding equipment here and get help from the friendly with fitting.
Limited range of ski clothing and outfits. Better to shop in town at XXL, Stadium or Intersport.
🔸️ WARM HOUSE (warmestugan) Always feels crowded but Sweden has a lovely culture where people will share seats with you and respect each other's space.
🔸️ TOILETS Many stalls. Clean and dry. No bad smells even with high traffic.
🔸️ STORAGE There are common areas and shelves but at a small fee, you can store your things with wardrobe services.
🔸️ PARKING Large outdoor parking area. Come early to get a spot closer to...
Read moreIts a nice ski resort, a bit on the smaller side but still fun. My only complaint is the ”medical” team. I had a really bad fall, and me and my friend skied to the sjukstuga. Id fallen badly and both of my thumbs were quite immobile, and my left one was visually bent to the side. The guy in the sjukstuga barely looked at only one of my thumbs, said it was ”bara en översträckt muskel” without touching it or asking me ANYTHING. I waddeled out in a lot of pain (didnt get even an alvedon (not surprising since he was so busy filling out a survey about Romme without caring for the state of his patient)), under 5 minutes since i entered with just a small bandage. I could barely eat lunch after this, and definetly didnt ski. Once we got back to Stocholm, at around 7 pm (7 hrs since fall) my mum and i went to the närakut, where after 3 hours we got the info that both thumbs were broken and the left was also dislocated; at the same time. Later in the early morning we got the emergency (doctors word) fixed. Im genuenly astounded at the lack of professionalism and ability to communicate by the ”medics” at Romme. If they couldve made the (very easy) connection from my litreally SIDEWAYS BENT thumb to it being dislocated, i couldv’e much earlier got the care i needed. Im not sure if Lasse (the name of the ”medic” at Romme iirc) should honestly have a job anymore. Also, excuse my awful grammar right now, since both my thumbs are broken. And i have nothing against Romme as a whole, its a lovely...
Read moreVisited today as a party of 4 adults. Collecting pre-booked SkiPasses and equipment went smooth.
The modified queue system for the ski lifts due to pandemic and restrictions worked okay. Not terrible but needs a little bit of improvement. Some of the staff at the ski lifts were very synchronised and made sure that the different lines integrated so one line wasn't favoured more than the others while some of the staff didn't do anything leaving us guests to a kind of free for all.
The slopes are great with a, for our party, satisfying variety of incline and degrees of difficulty. However some of the slopes are a bit narrow making it easy to lose speed if you end up behind someone who's slower or a bit uncontrolled (looking at all the kids left unsupervised who do not care for their surroundings).
We decided to eat lunch at Toppstugan where the queue system had been modified to cater to restrictions and social distancing. After a pretty long wait we were seated inside the restaurant. One of the waitresses helped us find a somewhat suitable dish seeing as one of us is vegan. She returned after asking the kitchen regarding the possibly vegan dish and took our order. 6 drinks, 3 Toppstugan's hamburger and 1 vegetarian hamburger. Our drinks arrived pretty quickly and the food soon followed. The hamburger was a bit of a disappointment compared to previous years and the Coke was watery BUT overall a pleasant lunch...
