Engelsberg Ironworks — Attraction in Fagersta kommun

The Engelsberg Foundry was an interesting place. We were able to partake in a private tour (available on the website) which made the stop well worth our time. The first building we visited was the where the iron was separated from the ore. It is a huge multistory building with a large water wheel that ran the crusher, after which the rock went into the furnace and pig iron was separated from the surrounding rock. The pig iron was further processed in the building that housed the Blacksmiths, where it was heated and pounded and heated and pounded to remove the charcoal. We had a very great tour around Engelsberg with super guides that really could answer all about how people lived , worked , and slept and how their family worked. Mycket intressant och fin miljö. Verkligen sevärt. Dock måste man gå visningen för att få en ordentlig inblick i livet på bruket samt få se byggnaderna ordentligt och höra dess historia. 5 stjärnig miljö och rekommenderar verkligen. Guiden var också 5 stjärnig. Det är dock mycket svårt att boka visning. Finns inget telefonnummer. Mail svarar de mycket långsamt eller inte alls på. Bokning på nätet hänvisas till men det gick inte genom föra eller ens komma åt. Hade jag inte haft en mycket speciell anledning att besöka platsen, så hade jag gett upp besöksförsöken. Nu fick jag åka på vinst och förlust. Hade även tänkt se närliggande Oljeön, men den dåliga informationen på Engelbergsbruk förstörde de planerna då visningarna krockade. Förmiddagsvisningen fick jag aldrig veta att den fanns. Så 2 stjänor på administration och information och bokning tyvärr. Även mera informations skyltar eller kartor med information om byggnader och området borde finnas. En besvikelse att ingen information alls fanns om de smeder och andra som arbetat på bruket. Inga namnlistor eller liknande. Inga valloner som verkat där nämndes. Finns mycket historiskt att förbättra för besökare. Men i det stora hela ett fantastiskt ställe där mina anfäder verkat och vars barn tom drunknat i den vackra...
