I'll be writing more about the trail that starts about 5km from the mines but if you just want to see the mines there is a parking available just 100 away.

We started the trail at the south on the map where you can park just after crossing the railway. From there it's a slight incline up to the trail itself, somewhere between 600-800m long.

The trail the begins with a quite long and quite steep incline up towards the highest peak on the trail, about 330m above sea level. The trail itself is beautiful and easy to walk and follow but the difference in height makes it challenging and it's not that easy to be honest.

After you reach the highest peak you are going downhill through a stunning forest of spruce (fir) trees on a floor of moss. The trail then continues through forests and open landscapes until you reach the mines (Hornbackskullen) and then it's an easier path towards the end of the trail.

All in all we measured the walk to just above 10km.

At the mines there are tables, shelters and what looks like a future café although I'm not sure about that. Here you can sit and eat whatever you have brought.

Highly...

We recently joined the guided tour trough the Silver Mine (80 Krona per person, Kids are free of charge) and it was an impressive experience.

Parking Facilities: Ample parking space is available right near the entrance, making it convenient for visitors.

Short Walk to the Mine: The mine is easily accessible with a brief walk of about 500 meters from the parking area, ideal for all age groups.

Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables near the entrance where you can relax or have a snack while waiting for your tour to start.

Guided Tour: The tour itself was fascinating. The guide was knowledgeable, providing in-depth insights into the history and operations of the mine. Exploring the tunnels and learning about silver mining was a highlight.

Hiking Trails: For those interested in more outdoor activities, the mine is adjacent to several scenic hiking trails, offering a great opportunity to extend your visit.

Overall, the Silver Mine tour offers a mix of education and adventure, making it a great outing for families and history...

Small silvermine with dedicated guide who knows a lot about the mines history and surrounding area. It doesn't go very deep but does not allow easy access for physically impaired people. You can also search through piles of stone rubble in search for your own silver or gemstones and you can go gold panning. There's also a short hike allong the remnants of a pole walk system they used before the steamengine. This silvermine is one of the cheaper options compared to other silvermines...

This old silver mine, dating back at least to the 16th century, perhaps even earlier might be a bit off the beaten path, but it is well worth a visit. Beware of steep descents, tiny passages and lots of dripping water. It is nonetheless an excellent place to visit to get an idea of how the mining industry grew in Sweden.
