This review is for the cafe at Nikkaluokta Sarri AB only. We had both lunch and dinner here, and while we note that the hot food menu is limited - they have only 3 items on their menu: (i) sautéed reindeer, (ii) prime rib burger and (iii) vegan burger, all 3 items were fantastic.
Their baked goods are delicious as well.
We got all 3 hot food items, as well as their apple pie and blueberry pie. The main comment is that the food is really fresh. You can taste quality in every bite.
The sautéed reindeer comprises slices of reindeer meat and mushroom bits in a brown sauce (similar to the meatball sauce), topped with a generous amount of lingonberries and a side of creamy mash.
Both the prime rib and vegan burgers come with a delicious side of fries.
And the apple pie and blueberry pie seem to have been baked with sweet fresh apple and blueberries.
Service wise - you order at the counter, collect your baked goods, and they provide you with a buzzer for hot food collection. You help yourself to water, as well as refillable coffee and tea (included in your lunch and dinner orders).
This is the perfect place to visit for food after you end...
Read moreAccommodation: OK, but not very clean and everything looks and feels very aged. We feared more than once that the bunk bed would collapse. Missing (a lot of) cutlery on arrival, lights not working, dead insects in the chandelier... Absolutely zero privacy in the shared showers. Linen is not included, and that is not written in the website or in the reservation email, so you have to either rent it (150 kr/set) or bring your own. I’d suggest looking at AirBNB.
Transport to Keb: they tried to overcharge us 400kr. The transport itself was on time and went well.
Restaurant: smells good, prices are around 160-220 kr which is decent. Vegetarian options available. Did not try it.
Café: 30kr for hot water + chocolate powder. Feels like a scam. Waffles were very good though, albeit expensive.
Nikkaluokta itself is beautiful, we loved the wilderness and...
Read moreAbsurd hours for this place, which due to its isolated position should be considered as an alpine refuge. It opens at 9.00 in the morning and closes at 19.00 .... Considering also the fact that this accommodation is also the starting point of the long and popular trek to Kebnekaise, the highest peak in Sweden and the European Arctic Circle. I must also add an unfortunate and incorrect fact that happened to me at the reception. There was a lady who I asked for a boungalow for the night. She proposed me a small house with bath and shower at 900sek, or just the house at 750sek. I chose the second option, but later I discovered that the bathroom and shower were still there. She tried to give me the same bungalow first at one price and then at another, a really nasty attitude. However, the house was very nice and...
