Knuthöjdsmossen nature reserve — Attraction in Hällefors kommun

the nature reserve is beautiful - we have been coming here from Switzerland for 15 years. that has an end now: after driving all the way, we had to find out, that the reserve is now blocked for humans from 1.4.-1.9. in the year. yes, you can walk a few minutes each way into it, but its a joke. there is no reason to come to the reserve anymore at these times. it is defacto closed - and while we were here now (pre booked accommodation) not another single person showed up - for a reason. The reason for the closure is honorable: to protect the breeding phase of the beautiful Smålommen ducks. The implementation was a minimalistic, lazy approach by a bureaucrat - this could have been successfully accomplished with the help of volunteers and a ranger - how very successful otherwise. Unfortunately it is our last visit...

Fantastisches, sehr schönes Naturreservat, das man vom Parkplatz aus teilweise auf breiten, aber oft auch auf sehr schmalen Holzwegen, und teilweise durch ein Waldgebiet durchläuft. Zwischendurch gibt es Sitzgelegenheiten, sogar auch welche mit Tischen. Hier sind viele Nisthilfen für Schellenten (Bucephala clangula), Meisen und andere Vögel aufgehängt. Ein Nistkasten wurde sogar von einem Trauerschnäpper (Ficedula hypoleuca) besetzt. In dem Gebiet gibt es drei farblich markierte Pfade, die man laufen kann (rot: 400m, blau: 1.4km, gelb: 900m). Zur Brutzeit, 1. April bis 1. September, ist allerdings der gelbe Pfad gesperrt. Wir waren Ende Mai (31.5.) dort. Somit konnten wir den gelben Pfad nicht begehen. Nach einem zweiten Besuch konnten wir nach langem Warten einen einzelnen Sterntaucher (Gavia stellata) vom blauen Pfad aus sehen, der sogar nach weiterer Wartezeit knapp am Holzpfad vorbei schwamm. Neben dem Sterntaucher konnten wir Kanadagänse mit Jungen, Schellenten mit Jungen, vereinzelt mal eine Krickente (Anas crecca) und das Trauerschnäpper-Weibchen sehen, wie es Futter zum Nistkasten brachte, der an einem der Bäume sehr nahe eines der Rastplätze...

Do not waste your time visiting this place anymore. From 2024, nearly the entire reserve is closed off from 1/4-1/9. You will not be able to see a red-throated diver from the open paths. Poor management - dogs has been allowed in the reserve for years, which makes less sense than any of the new...
