Picasso sculpture — Attraction in Kristinehamns kommun

The Picasso sculpture is right on the bank of the lake. Very close by is also a restaurant. The surroundings provide the visitors with beautiful views. Finding the correct / or shortest roads to the sculpture is accompanied with some adventure too! ;-) The roads are dusty and you might easily wind yourself at an end of the road (in the forest by some cottages etc.) and you´ll be forced to just try out “the next right” turn. Sculptura nu exceleaza prin ceva deosebit, insa exista un punct anume de unde trebuie privita sculptura pt a fi inteleasa. Mai interesanta este povestea acesteia, opera fiind numita Jacqueline, dupa cea de-a doua sotie a lui Picasso, pe care sculptura este menita sa o reprezinte. Aceasta a fost ridicata sub supravegherea lui Carl Nesjar, un pictor si fotograf norvegian cunoscut pt colaborarea sa cu Pablo Picasso si care este autorul transformarii machetelor lui Picasso in sculpturi. Picasso nu a vazut niciodata sculptura, ci doar a urmarit creatia sculpturii de la distanta, prin intermediul fotografiilor si filmarilor. Uriasa sculptura a primit aprobare pentru a fi ridicata la 6 km sud-vest de centrul orasului Kristinehamn, in municipalitatea Kristinehamns Kommun, pe un promontoriu care se intinde pe malul Lacului Vanern. Sculptura masoara 15m, este realizata din beton si cantareste, aproximativ, 8 tone,iar coloana are 1.65 metri in diametru. Zona in care este situata este destul de draguta, statuia fiind amplasata intr-un parc de pe malul Volosund, in nord-estul lacului Vanern, iar in imediata ei apropiere se afla o cladire mica, in care se regaseste o expozitie despre creatia operei de arta.
