Unmissable visit. Specially enjoying one of the three daily guided tours. Guide will entertain you for almost one hour telling you the most extraordinary stories of the place, some of them hilarious, some quite dramatical. Even if an elevator exists is not a place totally adapted to people with disabilities. Not for very small kids under 7/ 8 years either. The place built in 1539-1549 has been a home, fortress, prison, shelter for World War II survivors among other purposes.. And you may feel all that during the visit to the different buildings and floors. Around you find a nice park where you may bring your own pick nick or have a meal at the restaurant. Public toilets also available. Without the tour you only see the facade of the buildings and the courtyard and will miss 99, 9% of this extraordinary place and its many stories...
Read moreI went on an adventure to Landskrona's Citadel, it's a nice place on a sunny day to go for a walk for everyone. There are many activities and places to enjoy in the area also. There is a cafe inside by the castle.
further down the road there is a outdoor training grounds and a skate park by the water tower, you can lay on the sun loungers that is set up facing the ocean where you can enjoy the view of the beautiful view. Furthermore, there are several places where there is a barbecue (grilling) spots with seats.
for parents or people with kids there are a playgrounds for the little ones down by the beach.
Right next to the Citadel is Kaptensgården's sculpture park which is beautiful to walk through and there are many sculptures to look at and enjoy.
I fully recommend this...
Read moreA great early-modern fortress that helped shape Scandinavia as it is today. This originally Danish fortress has seen many battles through the years, and it was the main Danish stronghold during the bitter Scanian War 1676-79 when King Christian V was often there. Unfortunately, much of the star-shaped fortifications have been pulled down, but the citadel remains and a few other buildings, too. It's in a lovely location with parklands and the sea all around, but unfortunately, the citadel and the buildings are no longer open to the public. There are less than a handful of guided tours a year, and everything is in a rather sad state compared to only a decade ago. There's also a lovely café on the other side...
