Interesting place to visit and explore as the area around is full of wonderful remnants of mining activity like pumping houses, shaft entries, forges and etc. Visit to the mine ( we booked a guided tour) was a bit disappointing..., it was almost the exact repetition of the information we get in Falu gruva ( visited a couple of weeks ago) - Lady of the mine, hard labor, riches of the Kingdom... Aside of going down and going up by exactly the same stairs there is nothing to tell. Unfortunately. The most interesting point (for me) was a story of the "iron rod" - a mining equipment tool with which the experienced miners can define/ predict the existence of silver ore in the rock ( the sound of knock will be different), I would LOVE to see the effect demonstrated, but it wasn't...and I would suggest to add it, of course. Out of practical advice to the future visitors: 1/ no option to get a ticket on the spot ( book online and in advance on the official site). 2/ parking lot in the premises is free 3/ restaurant/ cafe serves good coffee 4/ no souvenir shop on site. Pity. I saw only an antiquarian one by the entrance. 5/ aside guided tours all other mining buildings and corners of the are are free of charge, enjoy. 6/ toilets are in the building next to queen...

Edit: Customer experience personnel got in touch with me on 5th August ( 2 days after posting this review).

They explained the entire issue and offered clarification and compensation for our future visits.

I understand this was due to miscommunication within the staff and should say I'm SATISFIED with the grievance redressal provided.

Hope to visit again soon.

EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Had booked a Great mine experience in English. The tour got cancelled when we arrived there; the guide said he cannot speak in English and the 155m elevator is broken. There were additonal 60m room tours organised as a compensation for the 155m tour but that was never communicated to us.

It basically seemed he did not want us there since we couldn't speak swedish.

No communication about these changes in advance (there was another family who had those changes communicated to them one day prior). Thankfully we were already in the area to visit someother places or else we would need to wait for a 2pm tour when originally we had booked a 11am tour.

I was assured I would get a call for settling out my grievance (assurance given on 1st August 2022), been 3 days...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE! We had the "english" tour for the 55m mine. The mine is very small and very dark. You will see almost nothing, only a hole in the ground. Very, very bad illuminated. The only informations we got was that: "here is the 40m level and down there 55m". The museum is very small and bad organized, without good explanation about the mine history. Nothing detailed related to the extraction process. The price is huge (395 for swedish or 295 for english sek/person) compared with what is offers. A fair price would be maximum 150 sek/adult. Be aware that the kids ABOVE 4 will pay a FULL price ticket.

Very dissapointed! I felt...

Beautiful place and a great experience going down the mine. We took the tour with the lift since we are traveling with kids. It is a good idea to book in advance since there are not many chances to buy a ticket at the entrance. Also, the mine is cold and humid, you'll need at least 20-30 min under earth to see around and it won't be enjoyable if you are not well dressed. There is a restaurant that offers lunch and coffee. There are also some benches to eat your lunch if you brought it with you.

Another a day excursion from Stockholm. The mine town is so beautiful. You come here and there are small architectural build up which are nice to see and experience the history. As we didn’t purchase the ticket beforehand and so we needed to wait a few hours to get another slot and so missed but then we just explored everything above the mine. Also staffs were so helpful and they explained and told the history behind the silver town.
