Please note that the castle and guiding is completely differently managed from the restaurant/café and hotel that sadly provided an overall not great experience.
That said, the castle itself is simply stunning and so well preserved and the guided tour super informative! Do, and I repeat, DO go for the guided tour to see the inside of the castle. Our guide (sorry , forgot your name 🫣) truly went out of her way to show and tell the rich history of the many rooms and royal occupants and also were flexible to swap the tour to English even if the schedule said Swedish for our booked timeslot. With her passion and joy for her job we felt more like being shown around by a passionate friend who just couldn't help sharing their vast knowledge than being part of a standardised tour given several times daily.

Heads up: This place is not stroller- or wheelchair-friendly. The entrance to both restaurant and café is down a narrow door and a tight stair—you’ll need to fully disassemble your stroller and carry your baby. There’s no nursing room or baby‑friendly restrooms, so it isn’t suited for families with small children or visitors with limited mobility. Coffee and cake were underwhelming—not worth braving the awkward access for.

The restaurant had a nice menu posted outside and fancy words on the website but didn't want to serve the three of us lunch around 1 pm, seemingly in anticipation of some big tourist group. They referred us to the cafe, and, when I pointed out it's rather not a lunch place, looked put up, but offered to see if the kitchen would serve us after all. We left.
