Ryttmästarbostället — Attraction in Skövde kommun

This is an open air museum free for everyone to visit and walk around in. At some places there are emotion detectors placed which activate sounds when you come close. At some buildings there are slot (coin toss) which will start a guiding if you put a swedish ten crown coin in it (you are requested to bring ten crown coins if you want to do this). Many houses from 17th, 18th and 19th century are collected and brought to the place. The man behind all the work (he is considered to live in the villa next to the spot) is said to arrange guide tours but...

It's definitely worth a visit. If you are at Simsjön then take a walk from the lake or drive here and stop at the huge parking space and a walk through this old replica village. It's a small historical site packed with Swedish history. There are signs detailing the Swedish army and its kings if you prefer to wander at your own pace. The views are stunning...

Fick idag efter många års väntan äntligen besöka Ryttmästarbostället igen. Var där senast vintern 2017 och då fullständigt förtrollad av denna historiska plats. Fick nu nöjet att se platsen igen sommartid och dessutom fick jag se samma förundran i min sambos ögon som jag själv känt.

Det är tvära kast mellan svensk historia och nutid där Bernhard Englund blandar berättelser om vår svenska historia, kulturarv och identitet med berättelser från sitt eget liv. Att en enda man varit drivkraften bakom detta fantastiska museum är minst sagt helt otroligt.

Som skattebetalare i Skövde kommun i 15 års tid känns det närmast banalt att det ens skulle finnas en diskussion eller tveksamhet kring om kommunen skulle ta över verksamheten och bevara den för framtida...
