Christinehof Slott — Attraction in Tomelilla kommun

"Christinehof slott" is sometimes translated into English as "Christinehof castle," but it may be better described as an aristocratic palace or manor house. Christina Piper, the building’s namesake and the widow of a close advisor to the Swedish king, saw to its construction in Andrarum between 1737-1740. She also played a critical role in the nearby alunbrucket's expansion, which produced alum until the early twentieth century. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the site alone warrants repeat visits. It also hosts an interpretive exhibit regarding Christinehof's background.

An unexpected side attraction is Christinehof's role as a rock music concert site from 1985 to 2012. Included among the artists who performed at Christinehof are Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Alice Cooper, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Little Richard, Santana, Tom Jones, and the Beach Boys.

Idag fick vi från Hackebackeskolan i Lessebo kommun äran att besöka det vackra och historiska slottet. Vi möttes av två fantastiska guider som inte bara var kunniga, utan även klädda i tidstypiska 1700-talskläder, vilket verkligen förstärkte upplevelsen och gjorde historien levande för eleverna.

Guidernas bemötande var otroligt barnvänligt och förstående. De välkomnade våra 34 elever med stor värme och respekt, oavsett elevernas olika behov och förutsättningar. Det var tydligt att de hade en fin fingertoppskänsla – i stället för att bli irriterade när tålamodet hos vissa elever brast, så mötte de barnen med frågor och nyfikenhet, och lyckades på ett imponerande sätt hålla intresset vid liv.

Det smög sig till och med in några mattefrågor under besöket, men just idag hade elevernas hjärnor lite “skolpaus” – vilket möttes med ett leende snarare än krav.

Tack för att vi fick komma och ta del av historien på ett så engagerande och inkluderande sätt. Vi hoppas att få återkomma igen – kanske med en ny grupp elever nästa gång!
