The Falsterbo Photo Art Museum in Sweden is truly a hidden gem that I had the pleasure of experiencing during a recent trip to the beautiful coastal town of Falsterbo, southeast of Malmö.
Nestled amidst picturesque seaside nature, the museum's location is simply breathtaking. The views of the sparkling Baltic Sea and a long stretch of sandy beach from one of two terraces created an almost surreal yet serene atmosphere that was perfect for appreciating art.
The ongoing exhibit with German-Australian commercial photographer Helmut Newton is outstanding! It gives both the novice and the serious fan a delightful collection of his work all beautifully displayed and appropriately lit. Unlike many other photography museums in Sweden and elsewhere, the Falsterbo Photo Art Museum prides itself for exhibiting Newton’s original, limited prints, not just posters, which, incidentally, can be bought at the museum’s gift shop.
Another highlight of my visit to Falsterbo Photo Art Museum was dining at the museum's restaurant, which was a pleasant experience in every way. The food was exceptional, with a delightful blend of local and international flavors. and the friendly and attentive staff made the dining there truly enjoyable. Oh, did I mention the great view?
The Falsterbo Photo Art Museum is definitely worth visiting, for the amazing art they exhibit, the excellent dining experience you can have there and the stunning nature surrounding the museum.

Read moreHighly recommend a visit as the building is stunning amidst the woodland and beside a beautiful beach (scenery reminds me of Artipelag in Stockholm). The adjoining bistro serves some wonderful food in this setting. The gallery itself has an interesting collection, although I felt the curation and condition of the gallery could be improved, and unfortunately entry is quite overpriced. That being said, staff are very friendly and enthusiastic, and the place is super easy to access on the...
Read moreI ran into this museum when going to the beach, and I have to say it is worth visiting - the exhibition was interesting, the staff was kind and welcoming and gave a short introduction to the museum and exhibition. Their collection had quite a wide variety and was well presented, with many of the photos being original prints! I'd recommend visiting to anyone looking to visit an art museum in the south of Sweden - it's worth the travel time, and the nearby beach is quite...
